The company says it has raised more than $100 million since its 2016 founding. Its system coordinates robotic arms with biopharma instruments and software to automate manufacturing tasks; it is industrial infrastructure for drug makers, not a consumer product.
What Multiply Labs does
Multiply Labs develops robotic infrastructure for pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturers. Its approach is to automate manual steps in a manufacturing process while allowing a manufacturer to retain its existing instruments and validated process, according to the company. That is the platform’s intended operating model, not independent evidence that every process can be transferred without changes or additional validation.
Cell and gene therapies can involve many hands-on operations, from handling cells to moving materials between equipment. Multiply Labs’ platform aims to coordinate such operations inside a controlled manufacturing environment. The company’s longer-term funding plan is to extend that approach beyond cell and gene therapies to advanced biologics, including antibodies, viral vectors, and mRNA therapies.
Who invested in the $75 million Series B
The financing announcement says Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, with NantWorks, led the Series B. The company named AstraZeneca, Lingotto, Teradyne, and Strange Ventures as new investors. Returning investors include Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, Fifty Years, Ora Global, and Founders Fund. The announcement does not disclose the amount invested by any individual participant or a company valuation. The October 6, 2026 announcement, carried by Business Wire and syndicated by AOL, also says the round brings the company’s stated total capital raised to more than $100 million since its founding in 2016.

How the robotic manufacturing cluster works
Multiply Labs describes its product as a modular cluster that brings together robotic arms, instrument modules, process-execution software, and process records. The company’s current published specifications describe four robotic arms and up to 24 modular instrument modules in less than 600 square feet. It gives an estimated capacity of 2,000–10,000 or more doses per year per cluster, depending on the therapy and process length. These are vendor specifications, not independently verified output figures. Multiply Labs’ product page describes the system and its listed equipment ecosystem.
Software and process records
The company says scientists can use its Process Creator App, a no-code interface, to sequence manufacturing operations. Its software is described as recording process parameters, sensor readings, material genealogy, and operator actions, with electronic records that can be delivered to a quality system. Multiply Labs also describes the software as compliant with 21 CFR Part 11. These are company claims; compliance and suitability must be assessed for a specific system, process, and regulated use.

It also lists cartridges for G-Rex vessels, cell-culture bags, NC cassettes, syringes, vials, disinfection caps, and waste collection. A listed compatibility or cartridge does not establish that every equipment combination has been validated or is in commercial use.
What the cost and throughput claims show—and do not show
Multiply Labs’ website claims a 74% cost reduction per dose and throughput of up to 100 times higher. The page does not give a publication year or enough detail to treat those numbers as general outcomes across manufacturers, therapies, or facilities. The company homepage presents them as platform claims.

A separate Universal Robots case study published August 21, 2025 reports a narrower comparison: Dr. Jonathan Esensten of Sheba Medical Center’s Advanced Biotherapy Center said a comparison of a traditional manual cell-therapy manufacturing process with a robotic process performing the same process found an approximately 74% cost reduction. This is a reported comparison in a technology partner’s case study, not a guarantee for other processes or an industry-wide measurement. The case study also gives a $300,000–$2 million per-dose range for cell therapies; that range is likewise from the partner case study, not a regulator or independent market survey.
The figures therefore describe different kinds of evidence: a company-wide marketing claim and a partner-published account of a particular comparison. Neither establishes the savings or throughput a prospective facility would achieve. Results depend on the process, therapy, equipment, operating assumptions, and implementation.

Investors, collaborators, and suppliers are not interchangeable
The funding release identifies investors in the round; separate company pages name collaborators and technology or instrument partners. Those labels do not, by themselves, show that an organization bought the system or has deployed it commercially.
- Investors: AstraZeneca, Lingotto, Teradyne, and Strange Ventures are named as new investors; Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, Fifty Years, Ora Global, and Founders Fund as returning investors.
- Announced collaborations: Multiply Labs’ homepage lists AstraZeneca, Legend Biotech, and Kyverna Therapeutics.
- Technology and instrument relationships: The product page names Universal Robots as a technology partner and lists equipment-related partners including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Charles River, Wilson Wolf, GenScript, Fedegari, Cytiva, and Akron Bio.
The same organization can appear in more than one relationship category, but the cited announcements do not establish that each relationship includes a commercial installation.

What the funding announcement does not establish
The Series B release says the money will support expansion into advanced biologics, but it does not specify investor allocations, a company valuation, or committed customer installations. The available company and partner materials also do not independently verify the platform’s claimed regulatory compliance, deployment scale, throughput gains, or general cost savings. Those details matter to manufacturers evaluating automation: a system’s ability to orchestrate equipment is only one part of deciding whether a workflow can be transferred, validated, integrated with quality records, and operated at the required scale.
Why the announcement matters
Multiply Labs’ raise signals investor backing for an effort to apply robotics to labor-intensive pharmaceutical manufacturing and broaden the platform’s intended scope. The practical question for drug makers is whether a particular cluster can reliably automate the required steps within their process and quality constraints. The funding announcement and published specifications explain the company’s plan and product proposition; they do not, on their own, settle that implementation question.
