Designer Kamer Kaan Avdan’s video reimagined the familiar service as a modern mobile app; contemporaneous coverage showed the concept on an iPhone XS. Its nostalgic features are imagined interface ideas, not functions users could download and use.
What is MSN Messenger 2019 Edition?
It is a concept video by designer Kamer Kaan Avdan proposing what MSN Messenger might look like as a contemporary mobile app. BetaNews covered the concept in 2019, and Webtekno also described it as a concept shown on an iPhone XS. Neither account establishes that Microsoft developed, endorsed, or released the app.
The distinction matters because the phrase “2019 Edition” can sound like the name of a real software release. The available coverage instead describes a visual design proposal; it does not provide a download, supported platform, or evidence of a functioning service.
What features does the concept imagine?
The proposed interface combines familiar Messenger-era ideas with a mobile-app layout. It imagines a contact screen with friends’ online status and previous chats, alongside navigation for contacts, calls, camera, and settings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Presence and status: change a status or choose to appear offline.
- Music sharing: show music from Spotify or Apple Music.
- Friend alerts: receive a notification when selected friends come online.
- Classic and social touches: games and the familiar “Nudge” idea.
- Chat controls: custom emojis, pinned messages, and blocking.
These are features depicted or described in the concept, not verified capabilities of a released app. The design’s appeal lies in pairing recognizable social signals—especially presence, music status, and nudges—with a modern mobile interface.
Was it an official Microsoft app you could download?
No release is established by the contemporaneous coverage. The concept should not be confused with a Microsoft product, a working app, or an app-store listing. The iPhone XS is the device depicted in the concept coverage, not evidence that the app was available for that phone or any other device.
