The new CPU tower air cooler with a six-inch display is MSI’s MPG CoreFrozr AP17. MSI showed the dual-tower cooler at CES 2026; its screen can display system information or custom visuals. The announcement gives some hardware details, but not a price, final compatibility list, or independent performance results.
What is the MSI MPG CoreFrozr AP17?
The AP17 is an air cooler, not an all-in-one liquid cooler. Tom’s Hardware reported on January 7, 2026, that MSI had shown it at CES 2026. The report describes a large, removable display mounted on the dual-tower cooler. Tom’s Hardware’s CES 2026 report is the source for the AP17 details below.
What does the AP17’s screen show?
The six-inch LCD can show system information or custom visuals, according to the CES report. MSI also showed a separate model, the AP15, with a smaller display divided into readout segments. That is a different cooler; its screen and specifications should not be treated as AP17 details.
What hardware has MSI shown?
- Two cooling fans
- Eight heat pipes
- A nickel-plated copper base
- A removable six-inch LCD
These are announcement details, not independent test results. The cited report does not give the AP17’s dimensions, display resolution, final socket compatibility, measured temperatures, or noise levels.
#1 Best Overall
- The new generation full-plane copper base eliminates the traditional screw perforation design, significantly enhancing water-tightness and ensuring more reliable system operation.
- MSI’s hidden-cable design that routes all pump power and display signals through the sleeved tubing itself — leaving the cooling head completely free of visible wires. No messy cables.
- The 2.1-inch LCD screen supports real-time monitoring, animated visuals, or personalized content. Use it as a secondary display for dynamic system feedback and next-level customization.
- MSI's CycloBlade 9 fan combines a hybrid blade design, delivering powerful airflow and high static pressure. This ensures extreme cooling performance during intense gaming while maintaining low noise levels for an immersive experience. Additionally, the ARGB GEN2 lighting effects make your rig stand out on the battlefield, making it the ultimate choice for esports players.
- The exclusive UNI BRACKET mounting system offers seamless compatibility across Intel and AMD platforms, making installation faster, easier, and hassle-free for all builders.
Does the AP17 have a price or release date?
The January 7, 2026 report said MSI had not announced pricing for either the AP17 or AP15. The information available here does not establish current retail availability or a release date, so treat the AP17 as a cooler shown at CES rather than a confirmed product currently for sale.
What to check before considering a display-equipped tower cooler
A large display may be useful for at-a-glance system information or customization, but it does not establish how well a cooler performs or whether it fits a particular PC. Before choosing the AP17 or another model, look for:
Rank #2
- CycloBlade7 Design: Focuses airflow and reduces noise
- The fan design uses Rifle bearings, which effectively reduce fan noise and increase operational lifespan
- ARGB: Customize the perfect lighting effects for you through MSI CENTER
- Socket support: Confirm the final compatibility list against your motherboard and processor.
- Case clearance: Check the cooler’s dimensions and clearance around memory and other components.
- Thermal and acoustic results: Look for independent temperature and noise testing rather than relying on heat-pipe count alone.
- Display details: Confirm what information and custom content it supports, as well as the resolution and software requirements.
- Price and availability: Compare only confirmed retail listings and prices.
How does it compare with the Lamptron ST060?
The Lamptron ST060 is a separate, older dual-tower air cooler with an integrated display; it is not an MSI model and its specifications do not fill gaps in the AP17 announcement. Watercooling UK lists the ST060 at 153 × 152 × 120 mm, with six 6 mm heat pipes and two 120 mm PWM RGB fans. The retailer lists Intel LGA 1366, 1200, 115X, 1700, and 2011, plus AMD AM5 and AM4 compatibility, and states a 260 W TDP. Those are retailer listing claims for the Lamptron product, not verified AP17 specifications or AP17 performance results. Watercooling UK marks the ST060 end of life, so the listing does not establish current stock: Watercooling UK’s Lamptron ST060 listing.
