If your Motorola Signature battery is draining fast, start with Settings > Battery > Battery usage. Find out whether an app, the screen, or background activity is using power before changing several settings at once. Then adjust only the likely causes, keeping background access for apps that need to deliver timely alerts.
1. Find what is using the battery
- Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage.
- Review the listed apps and features. Where your software shows the distinction, compare screen-on use with background use.
- Look for unusually high use that does not match how you have been using the phone. A high percentage alone is not proof an app is faulty: a video, camera, or navigation session can use substantial power during active use.

2. Restrict background use selectively
If a particular app is consuming power while idle, review its background battery setting and restrict it if it does not need to refresh or run in the background. Motorola cautions that a restricted app may delay notifications, updates, or new content until you open it. Keep background access for time-sensitive messaging and email, navigation, health monitoring, or safety apps when prompt operation matters. 3. Keep Adaptive Battery on
Adaptive Battery learns which apps you use infrequently and reduces their activity. Leave it enabled unless you have a specific reason not to. It is a power-management feature, not a guaranteed immediate fix or a promise of a particular percentage improvement. Motorola Signature Android 16 user guide.

4. Use Battery saver when you need more runtime
The Signature offers Standard and Maximum Battery saver modes. Standard limits background work and some features. Maximum applies stronger restrictions, including pausing nonessential apps and notifications, so use it when extending runtime matters more than having every app update promptly. 5. Reduce avoidable screen and connection use
- Screen: Lower brightness and shorten screen timeout if the display is staying on longer or brighter than you need.
- Network: Use Wi-Fi where coverage is available. Cellular conditions can affect power use, so compare drain in the places and situations where you notice it rather than assuming one connection setting is always responsible.
- Bluetooth and location: Turn off connections or location-related use when you do not need them; retain them for services that depend on them.
- Sync: Disabling automatic sync can reduce background activity, but email and other updates may then require manual syncing.

6. Account for demanding activities
Video recording or viewing, music playback, photography, and animated or live wallpaper can all contribute to faster battery use. If the drain started during a period of heavier use, compare usage after that activity has stopped before treating the change as a fault. 7. Distinguish battery drain from charging behavior
Charging symptoms can look alarming but are different from power loss while unplugged. Motorola’s user guide says TurboPower can warm the battery during rapid charging and that this is normal. It also says charging can slow at a battery temperature of 111°F. TurboPower rapid charging applies below 78% battery; at 78% or higher, charging proceeds at regular speed. The same guide says Battery protection can limit the charge to 80% after the phone has remained plugged in for three days. Disconnecting and reconnecting allows charging to full. 8. What battery life should you expect?
Motorola lists a 5,200 mAh battery and claims up to 52 hours of battery life for the Signature. Its UK specifications page also lists up to 28 hours of continuous video playback, up to 18 hours of uninterrupted gaming, up to 6 hours of 4K video recording, up to 5 hours of 8K video recording, up to 15 hours of social-media use, and up to 57 hours of music streaming. These are manufacturer-stated, use-case-specific maximums—not an independently measured typical runtime, a controlled comparison, or a guarantee. Motorola’s published figures do not establish a universal daily drain rate or screen-on-time threshold for a repair. Your result depends on use and conditions; the usage report is a more useful first diagnostic than comparing your phone with a single promised runtime.

9. When to contact Motorola
If battery loss remains unusually rapid after checking usage and trying relevant settings, or if the phone shuts down unexpectedly or has a charging fault, contact Motorola support for an assessment for your market. Motorola notes that rapid drain can have a hardware cause, but recommends troubleshooting first.
