The Motorola Moto G Power (2026) is a sensible budget Android phone if you value a large 120Hz display, expandable storage, a headphone jack, and advertised water- and dust-resistance ratings. Its main drawback is that it is a modest update: reviewers say it keeps the 2025 model’s display and chipset, and it drops wireless charging. Whether it is worth buying depends on its current price and how much those features matter to you.

What are the Moto G Power (2026) pros and cons?

Pros Cons and trade-offs
  • Large 6.8-inch FHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • 5,200mAh battery capacity and a manufacturer estimate of up to two days under specified conditions.
  • 128GB built-in storage with microSD expansion up to 1TB.
  • IP68/IP69 ratings, MIL-STD-810H, and Gorilla Glass 7i listed by Motorola.
  • 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, NFC, and fingerprint reader.
  • Tom’s Guide says the display and chipset carry over from the 2025 model, while wireless charging has been removed.
  • The display is LCD, not OLED.
  • At 208g and 8.72mm thick, it may feel substantial in a pocket or hand.
  • Motorola lists 30W charging capability; its product page says a TurboPower 33W or higher charger is needed for rapid charging and may be sold separately.

Motorola’s US specifications list Android 16, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB internal storage. These specifications describe the listed US model; Motorola notes that specifications can vary by market. Motorola’s US specifications

Is the Moto G Power (2026) worth buying?

It is worth considering if your priorities are screen size, storage flexibility, wired headphones, and the features Motorola lists for durability. It is a less compelling choice if you already own the Moto G Power (2025), want a substantial year-over-year upgrade, or specifically want wireless charging.

The official US launch MSRP was $299.99, with initial announced availability on January 8, 2026. Those are historical launch details, not a current price or guarantee of stock. Compare live offers before buying; a discount on the 2025 model may change the value calculation, but confirm that model’s price and features at the retailer. Motorola’s launch announcement

What changed from the Moto G Power (2025)?

In its January 2026 comparison, Tom’s Guide describes the update as modest: the 2026 model retains the display and chipset, slightly increases battery capacity, improves the front camera, and removes wireless charging. This is the reviewer’s account of the two generations, not a claim that every user will notice a particular performance difference. Tom’s Guide’s January 2026 review

Android Central also characterizes the model as a minor update and discusses its somewhat bulky design and screen. The publication reports that colors appeared surprisingly vibrant in its use, while noting bezel and auto-brightness drawbacks; those are review observations, not universal display measurements. Does the Moto G Power (2026) have wireless charging?

No. Tom’s Guide reports that wireless charging was removed from the 2026 model compared with the 2025 version. Motorola lists wired charging capability up to 30W. Its US product page says rapid charging requires a TurboPower 33W or higher charger, which may be sold separately; check the box contents for the specific market and seller. How good are the screen, battery, storage, and everyday features?

Large, high-refresh-rate LCD

Motorola lists a 6.8-inch LCD with a 2388 × 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and high-brightness mode up to 1000 nits. The brightness figure is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement here. The large viewing area and refresh rate are useful for scrolling and video, but the panel is LCD rather than OLED. Android Central’s impressions of color, bezels, and auto-brightness are described above.

Battery capacity and the “up to two days” claim

The listed battery capacity is 5,200mAh. Motorola also estimates up to two days of battery life, but describes that as an approximate result based on a mixed-use profile and optimal network conditions; actual endurance varies with use, settings, network, and other factors. It is not a guaranteed runtime, and no independent battery benchmark is established here.

Expandable storage and useful extras

The phone has 128GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 1TB, according to Motorola. Its listed extras include a 3.5mm headset jack, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, and dual-SIM support. Motorola lists a USB-C port using USB 2.0.

How durable is it, and is the Moto G Power (2026) waterproof?

Motorola lists IP68 and IP69 ratings, MIL-STD-810H protection, and Gorilla Glass 7i. These ratings do not make the phone waterproof. Motorola’s user guide says its IP68/IP69 tests were conducted under controlled laboratory conditions: it describes submersion up to 1.5 meters in still, fresh water for up to 30 minutes and protection against powerful, high-temperature water jets for up to 30 seconds. The same guide says the phone is “Not waterproof” and “Not designed to work while submerged underwater.” Motorola’s user guide

Motorola also warns that resistance can decrease through normal wear. Avoid salt water and exposure beyond the stated conditions, and do not charge the phone while it is wet. The ratings should be treated as protection under specified test conditions, not permission to deliberately expose the phone to water.

Is the Moto G Power (2026) comfortable to carry?

Motorola lists dimensions of 166.62 × 77.10 × 8.72mm and a weight of 208g. Those figures make portability worth considering, particularly if you prefer a compact or light phone. The wide, large display may suit video and browsing, but it also means a less compact device.

What should you check before buying?

  1. Compare today’s prices. The $299.99 figure was the US launch MSRP, not a live quote. Check current price and stock for both the 2026 and 2025 models.
  2. Confirm the exact model and market. Motorola says specifications can vary by market. Verify the listing’s memory, SIM arrangement, and supported features.
  3. Check charging expectations. The phone supports wired charging up to 30W, and Motorola says rapid charging requires a TurboPower 33W or higher charger that may be sold separately. Confirm what the particular package includes.
  4. Check carrier availability. Motorola announced Verizon availability for the January 8 US launch and said Cricket Wireless, Tracfone, Visible, Total Wireless, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, and AT&T would follow in the coming months. That announcement is not confirmation of current availability, so check with the carrier.
  5. Decide whether the 2025 model’s wireless charging matters. The newer model’s removal of that feature is a specific point to weigh when comparing a discounted predecessor.
