Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The Motorola Edge 70 Plus is a real trade-off, not a phone with more of everything: Notebookcheck reports that it costs less than the standard Edge 70 in its comparison, lasts longer in its review testing, and drops the ultrawide camera. The “one and a half cameras” description is critical shorthand for a 200 MP main camera paired with a 2 MP macro camera—not a literal specification. Motorola has not explained the Plus name in the cited coverage.
What is the Motorola Edge 70 Plus?
It is the Plus version of Motorola’s Edge 70, as covered in Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 comparison. The name can suggest a more capable model across the board, but the reported comparison points to a selective set of strengths: most notably battery capacity and endurance, alongside compromises in the camera setup. Notebookcheck says the Plus was cheaper than the standard Edge 70 at the manufacturer prices it compared; that is a comparison reported in the article, not a current price guarantee. Notebookcheck’s October 6 comparison does not cite Motorola explaining why it chose the Plus name.
Why call it “one and a half cameras”?
The phrase is a reviewer’s criticism, not Motorola’s term or a literal camera count. Notebookcheck’s October 1 review lists two rear cameras, but they are not equally useful for typical photography: a 200 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The review says the macro results offer little value beyond viewing on the phone screen, and there is no ultrawide camera. That leaves the main camera as the only broadly useful rear camera in the reviewer’s assessment.
Main camera: the useful rear shooter
Notebookcheck describes the main camera as producing detailed, good-looking photographs and performing well in low light. But without an ultrawide camera or a second more versatile lens, the setup offers fewer ways to frame a scene, and the review notes that this limits zoom. A high megapixel count does not itself provide the framing flexibility of an ultrawide or optical-zoom camera.

Macro camera: a narrow role
The 2 MP macro camera is intended for close-up subjects, but Notebookcheck judges its results weak enough to be of limited practical use. It technically adds a second rear camera, yet it does not compensate for the missing ultrawide option.
Front camera
The phone also has a 32 MP front camera. Notebookcheck reports nice selfies, while noting a tendency toward overexposure in very bright areas. This front camera is separate from the rear-camera shorthand in the headline.

What does “Plus” actually buy you?
The clearest advantage in Notebookcheck’s comparison is battery life. The Edge 70 Plus has a 6,500 mAh battery, and Notebookcheck says its review unit lasted 15% longer overall than its standard Edge 70 unit in the publication’s testing. That is a result from those review units and test methods—not a guarantee that every owner will see the same margin.
The review also highlights a bright, color-accurate 6.78-inch AMOLED display, build quality, and microSD expansion up to 1 TB. It reports a promise of five years of security patches through 2031 and three OS updates. These are meaningful advantages for someone who values endurance, screen quality, expandable storage, and a stated update commitment more than camera versatility or peak performance.

Where the phone’s compromises matter
- Camera flexibility: There is no ultrawide camera, and the low-resolution macro camera does not provide a strong substitute.
- Zoom: With only one broadly useful rear camera in Notebookcheck’s assessment, framing distant subjects is more limited.
- Water exposure: The review says the phone has no protection against submersion; do not treat it as suitable for underwater use.
- Connectivity and speed: Notebookcheck describes Wi-Fi as comparatively slow and says competitors in the roughly €600 class can offer more processing power or more flexible camera systems. Its review does not establish an exhaustive current ranking of alternatives.
Price and availability depend on market and date
Notebookcheck reported availability in Europe and the Middle East for around US$680 at the time of its October 1, 2026 review. That is a dated report for those regions, not a current universal price and not evidence of US availability. Check the exact regional model and an authorized seller’s current listing before treating the phone as available to buy.

The Edge 70 Plus may suit someone who puts battery endurance, a strong display, expandable storage, and the stated software-support promise ahead of a versatile rear-camera system. It is a weaker fit for anyone who frequently uses ultrawide framing, wants useful optical zoom, prioritizes high-end performance, or needs submersion protection. Compare phones at the same date and in the same market, since price and availability change, and assess camera options alongside battery and performance rather than relying on the Plus label.
