Specifications are manufacturer-published, not independent measurements. The listed 144Hz and 120Hz are maximum refresh rates; the actual rate can vary with settings and content. A shared processor name or battery capacity does not by itself establish identical performance or battery life. Motorola India support and Motorola Australia G85 specifications provide the cited regional specifications; Motorola’s pages note that details may vary by market.

What the G85’s extra ₹3,000 gets you
A sharper, larger display
The G85’s 6.67-inch Full HD+ pOLED panel has substantially more resolution than the G45’s 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD. On paper, that gives the G85 the more detailed display and the higher-spec panel type. It is the clearest reason to pay more if screen quality is a priority.
Higher rated charging and a lighter listed build
Motorola lists 33W TurboPower for the G85 and 18W charging for the G45. Both have a stated 5,000mAh battery, but those capacity and charging ratings do not establish measured endurance or charging time. The cited specifications also list the G85 at about 172g and 7.59mm thick, compared with about 183g and 8.03mm for the G45; regional variants and finishes may differ.

Camera features, not a proven camera winner
Motorola’s global G85 announcement lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Motorola India launch material identifies a 50MP Quad Pixel rear camera and a 16MP selfie camera for the G45. These specifications do not show which phone takes better photos: no controlled, directly comparable camera testing is established here.
Why the G45 may be the better buy
- You want to spend less: the displayed 8GB/128GB price is ₹3,000 lower on Motorola India’s October 4, 2026 snapshot.
- You need expandable storage: Motorola lists microSD expansion up to 1TB for the G45. The cited G85 support specification says it has no memory-card slot.
- You use wired headphones: the G45 includes a 3.5mm headset jack; the cited G85 specification does not.
The G45’s listed HD+ LCD resolution is lower than the G85’s Full HD+ pOLED resolution. Choose the cheaper model for its price and practical expansion/audio options, not on the assumption that its display matches the G85’s.

Software support and water resistance
Motorola India says the Moto G85 Android 16 upgrade began May 6, 2026. Its support page says security updates are scheduled to continue but does not give an end date. This does not establish the G45’s current update schedule. Check the Moto G85 software upgrade page for the current status.
Both cited specifications list IP52. That is a stated ingress-protection rating, not a claim that either phone is waterproof.
Which should you choose?
Choose the Moto G85 5G if
- You value the larger, higher-resolution pOLED display.
- You want the higher rated wired charging speed.
- You prefer the lighter and slimmer dimensions listed in the cited specifications.
Choose the Moto G45 5G if
- Saving the displayed ₹3,000 matters more than the G85’s display and charging advantages.
- You want microSD expansion or a 3.5mm headphone jack.
There is no established head-to-head test here to declare a winner for gaming speed, camera quality, battery endurance, or heat. Compare current prices for the same RAM/storage variant, then weigh the display and charging against the G45’s lower listed price and extra connectivity.
