Only 24% of organizations involve IT/AV before space planning begins, according to Logitech’s 2026 Workplace Equation survey. The finding points to a practical problem: workplace technology decisions are often made apart from the teams responsible for delivering and supporting it. Logitech recommends bringing IT/AV, HR and Real Estate or Facilities together early, then tracking technology-related downtime as part of workplace performance.
What Logitech’s Workplace Equation study found
Logitech released the study’s findings on September 9, 2026. The Harris Poll conducted the survey on Logitech’s behalf, asking 1,700 workplace-experience decision-makers at companies with at least 500 employees. Fieldwork ran from May 13 to June 4, 2026, across Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. The results reflect those decision-makers’ reported views and experiences, not objective measurements of every workplace. Logitech’s Workplace Equation and its September 9 press release describe the findings.
- 24% of organizations involve IT/AV before space planning begins, according to Logitech’s overall survey result.
- 12.2 minutes is the median productivity loss per person per meeting affected by technical problems such as failed audio or dropped connections, as reported in the survey.
- 30% of respondents say a single technical disruption costs 16 or more minutes per person.
These figures are survey responses, not a time-and-motion study. The 12.2-minute median does not mean every worker loses that much time in every meeting, and the survey does not show that a particular technology purchase would recover those minutes.
Why the planning gap matters
Room layouts and technology choices affect the same experience. A room intended for hybrid meetings, for example, needs to work for people in the room and people joining remotely. If technology and support needs are considered only after the space plan is set, teams may have to adapt the room or processes later. Logitech’s survey suggests these decisions are not consistently coordinated: only 24% of organizations involve IT/AV before planning begins, and 34% report having a unified workplace-experience function.

- The C920e webcam is certified for Zoom, TAA compliant and works with all popular video calling applications such as Microsoft Teams to ensure compatibility and seamless integration in the workplace.
The survey also shows a gap between recognizing workplace experience and managing it as a business priority. Logitech reports that 87% of leaders connect strong workplace experience with productivity and collaboration outcomes, while 27% treat workplace experience as a core business strategy. Fifty-eight percent say they are confident they have the right ROI data to justify workplace-experience and technology investments. Those figures describe leaders’ reported perspectives; they do not establish a causal link between technical problems and a specific organization-wide productivity decline.
How much time do meeting technology problems waste?
Logitech’s survey puts the median reported loss at 12.2 minutes per person during a meeting affected by a technical issue. That is a useful signal for investigating disruption, not a universal estimate for every meeting. The 30% who report losing at least 16 minutes per person to a single disruption indicate that some respondents experience longer interruptions.

Logitech also reports that 71% of respondents say employees experience technology issues at least sometimes, including 30% who say issues happen often or very often. In addition, 94% say workplace-experience failures have created at least one business cost, and 51% cite productivity loss when workplace experience fails. These are decision-makers’ reports about their organizations, rather than independently measured incident rates or costs.
When should IT be involved in office planning?
Logitech recommends involving IT/AV, HR and Real Estate or Facilities before space plans are fixed. Early participation gives the teams responsible for employee experience, space and technology an opportunity to agree on how rooms will be used and how their success will be assessed.

- Bring the teams together before room plans are finalized. Include IT/AV, HR and Real Estate or Facilities in the initial planning conversation, rather than asking IT to fit equipment into a completed design.
- Define the work each space must support. Plan around intended activities—such as collaboration or hybrid meetings—not attendance alone. This is Logitech’s recommendation, not a comparison of room designs tested by the survey.
- Agree on shared measures. Decide together which workplace-experience and technology indicators to monitor so that teams can evaluate a room against the same goals.
- Combine operational signals with employee feedback. Logitech recommends pairing sensor data with employee sentiment instead of relying on one type of indicator.
How to measure meeting-room technology performance
Logitech recommends tracking technology downtime alongside workplace-experience indicators. Its suggested operational signals include ticket volume, device performance and delays to meeting starts. Together, these can help teams spot recurring trouble and assess whether technology is interfering with intended room use.
- Ticket volume: Track support requests related to meeting-room technology and look for recurring issues.
- Device performance: Monitor relevant device performance to identify patterns that may need support or follow-up.
- Meeting-start delays: Track delays associated with room technology as an indicator of disruption at the start of meetings.
- Employee sentiment: Pair operational data with employee feedback, as Logitech recommends, to understand how the experience is felt as well as how systems perform.
These measures can help establish what is happening in a workplace; the survey does not provide a formula for calculating ROI or demonstrate that any specific equipment investment will produce a particular return. Logitech’s 58% figure is about leaders’ confidence in their ROI data, not proof that an investment delivers its projected result.

What the findings do—and do not—say
The study offers a broad view of workplace-experience decision-makers at large companies across 11 markets. It supports the case for earlier coordination and for measuring disruptions rather than treating meeting technology as separate from workplace performance. It does not establish that all businesses have the same planning gap, measure the actual lost time of every employee, or prove that technology failures cause a specified decline in company-wide productivity.
TechRadar’s Craig Hale reported on September 21, 2026, that 31% of UK organizations involve IT/AV before planning begins. That is a UK-specific figure attributed to the secondary report, not Logitech’s overall 24% result; the Logitech topline material cited here does not independently show the UK subgroup figure. TechRadar’s coverage is the source for that country-specific claim.
