TecLab’s custom, modded “RTX 4090 Super” is not an official NVIDIA graphics card. It scored 17,454 in Unigine Superposition at 8K, compared with 12,479 for a stock RTX 4090, in a final configuration that included driver Level of Detail (LOD) adjustments. That roughly 40% difference applies to this benchmark result—not to games generally. Without the LOD adjustment, reports put the gain at about 16–16.5%.
What the “RTX 4090 Super” actually is
The name refers to a specialist custom build using an RTX 4090 AD102 GPU, not a product announced or sold by NVIDIA. NVIDIA’s January 2024 RTX 40 SUPER launch named the RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER; it did not include an RTX 4090 SUPER (NVIDIA’s RTX 40 SUPER announcement).
Reports describe TecLab’s build as placing the 4090 GPU on a GALAX RTX 3090 Ti HOF OC Lab PCB, with faster GDDR6X memory and substantial board, firmware, voltage, and cooling modifications. Wccftech reports hand-selected Micron memory modules rated at 24 Gbps and run at an effective 25.8 Gbps, along with a GPU overclock to 3,105 MHz. The FPS Review describes water cooling connected to an LN2 canister. These are reported details of an unusual build, not a parts list for a retail card.
Coverage differs on the precise donor memory-card details. The consistently reported point is that the build used faster GDDR6X memory on a modified board; the available reporting does not establish a single donor-card model consistently enough to state it as fact.

Where the 39% figure comes from
TechSpot reports a score of 17,454 for the modified card and 12,479 for a stock RTX 4090 in Unigine Superposition’s 8K test. The final comparison included driver LOD adjustments, which can affect the benchmark’s rendering workload. The FPS Review reports the resulting uplift as 39.9%; other coverage rounds it to 39–40%.
That is a result in one synthetic benchmark configuration, not evidence that the card is 39% faster across games or everyday workloads. PCGamesN notes that the LOD setting could also have been applied to the stock card, making the final headline comparison methodologically qualified. The reported gain without the LOD adjustment is approximately 16–16.5%.
How the reported changes affected the score
| Configuration reported | Reported result versus stock | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Faster memory modification | Approximately 13% higher in Superposition 8K | PCGamesN and Wccftech report this for the memory-modified configuration; it is not a general gaming uplift. |
| Memory and GPU overclock, without the final LOD adjustment | Approximately 16–16.5% higher | TechSpot and Wccftech report this intermediate result in the benchmark. |
| Final configuration with LOD adjustment | Approximately 39–40% higher | TechSpot reports 17,454 versus 12,479 points; The FPS Review reports a 39.9% uplift. The LOD qualification is material. |
The progression matters: the headline number combines hardware and tuning changes with a benchmark-setting adjustment. It should not be read as the performance gain from simply installing faster memory, nor as a result a typical RTX 4090 owner can expect from an ordinary overclock.

Could an RTX 4090 owner reproduce it?
Not by buying a standard RTX 4090 or applying a routine software overclock. Reports describe a custom PCB, memory replacement, BIOS and memory-strap changes, voltage control, and specialist cooling. Such work requires advanced hardware modification and carries risks including component damage and instability. No evidence in the reporting establishes that TecLab’s custom card is commercially available.
The figures are reported results from 2024 coverage, not an independently reproduced test. They are useful as an example of what a highly customized card achieved under a specific benchmark setup, but they do not establish a repeatable upgrade path or a broad performance advantage.
