MO/GO is a powered hiking system developed by Skip with Arc’teryx and integrated with the Arc’teryx Gamma Pant. Motors at the knees and carbon-fiber supports are designed to assist leg movement on climbs and support the knees on descents. Skip advertises up to 40% assistance to leg muscles while going uphill, but that figure is a company claim, not an independently verified result or a guarantee for every wearer.

What are MO/GO powered pants?

MO/GO is specialized wearable equipment for outdoor recreation—not ordinary trousers with a concealed consumer gadget. Arc’teryx says the system is integrated with its Gamma Pant, while Skip describes the powered components as removable and snap-on. The collaboration was announced by Arc’teryx.

Skip lead designer Anna Roumiantseva described the design goal to Futurism in 2024: “For me the differentiating factor is taking it out of the realm of exoskeletons, which look and feel like an Iron Man suit and cost tens of thousands [dollars], and to make it approachable for an everyday person.”

How does the exoskeleton work?

Skip’s product description says compact motors at the knees assist flexion and extension—the bending and straightening involved in walking. Adjustable carbon-fiber cuffs and supports transfer force to the wearer’s legs. A simple control interface lets the wearer operate the system; the company also describes components that can be snapped on or removed. These are manufacturer descriptions, not findings from independent testing. See Skip’s MO/GO product information.

What assistance does it provide?

Skip says the system is designed to help on uphill terrain and support the knees on descents. It advertises “up to 40%” assistance to leg muscles on the way up. That is a Skip claim repeated in its product materials; the available sources do not establish an independently verified efficacy figure or a clinical outcome. Actual assistance may vary with terrain, settings, fit, and the wearer.

What happens to the battery?

Skip says the battery recharges during downhill walking and can be swapped to extend range. Its FAQ gives an approximate full-system weight of 2 kg (under 4.5 lb) and says a charge may provide 3+ hours or about 6 miles on steep uphill terrain with full assistance. Those are manufacturer specifications for the stated conditions, not a universal range estimate. Skip says an order includes two batteries and that spares are planned; availability and compatibility of a particular replacement battery are not established. Details are in the Skip FAQ.

Is MO/GO a medical device?

No. Skip says MO/GO is not FDA-approved or classified as a medical device. It is presented as outdoor recreation equipment, so it should not be treated as a medical treatment or as medically cleared equipment. Skip separately describes work on a product related to neurological conditions as under development and not commercially available; that is not the same as MO/GO.

How does it compare with ordinary hiking support?

MO/GO adds powered assistance, controls, and batteries to a hiking apparel system. Passive knee braces do not provide powered movement assistance, while trekking poles offer an external point of support without motors or a wearable battery. Skip says trekking poles are compatible with MO/GO and that some users pair them for additional support. The available sources do not provide independent comparative tests showing that MO/GO is more effective than those alternatives.

Can you buy MO/GO now?

Skip’s FAQ says it is refining the product’s industrial design, fit, and software before it ships in 2026, and its product pages invite reservations. The FAQ says delivery details and shipping costs will be supplied before deliveries begin. The official pages cited here do not establish a confirmed shipping start, firm delivery date, or current final price, so check Skip’s FAQ and product page for current terms before placing a reservation.

Launch-era figures should not be mistaken for current specifications or pricing. Futurism reported in 2024 a planned $5,000 price and a $500 early-adopter discount, as well as weight figures for the pants and snap-on units. Those historical figures may describe a different configuration from Skip’s current FAQ specification of about 2 kg for the full system, and they do not establish today’s price.
