Minisforum’s US store lists an MS-A2 with a Ryzen 9 9955HX for $799, reduced from a displayed $999 comparison price. That price is for the barebone configuration: it includes no RAM, SSD, or operating system. The listing also specifies dual 10Gbps SFP+ ports—not ordinary RJ45 10GbE ports—alongside a 2.5G RJ45 port. Check the live US-store listing for current price and availability.
What does the $799 MS-A2 configuration include?
The $799 figure applies to the Ryzen 9 9955HX barebone option shown on Minisforum’s US-store listing. Minisforum labels it “No RAM / SSD / OS,” so the price does not buy a ready-to-use computer. You will need compatible memory, at least one storage drive, and an operating system, unless you already have suitable components or a deployment plan.
The same listing presents other configurations, including one with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, at different prices. Stock and estimated shipping information vary by option and can change; check the selected configuration rather than assuming the barebone price applies to a bundle. A separate official product page displayed different pricing, so do not combine figures from different page contexts into one offer. See the separate MS-A2 product page.
What are the Ryzen 9 9955HX specifications?
Minisforum identifies the processor as an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX built on Zen 5, with 16 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.4GHz, 64MB of L3 cache, and a listed 100W turbo TDP. Integrated graphics are specified as Radeon 610M. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements; they do not establish how fast the system runs a particular workload or game.
#1 Best Overall

What does “dual 10GbE LAN” mean on this system?
The MS-A2 listing specifies two 10Gbps SFP+ LAN ports and one 2.5G RJ45 LAN port. SFP+ is a different physical connection type from RJ45 Ethernet: using the SFP+ ports may require compatible transceivers, direct-attach cables, fiber, or network equipment, depending on the link you intend to build. Check compatibility across the PC, modules or cables, and switch before budgeting for a 10GbE setup.
Minisforum also lists Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Its product page describes the networking as supporting rapid data throughput, but that is vendor language; the listed port speeds alone do not demonstrate measured real-world throughput.

How much memory and storage can you add?
Memory
The manufacturer lists two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots and support for up to 96GB. For Ryzen 9000-series configurations, it specifies DDR5-5600. Memory is not included in the $799 barebone option, so verify module compatibility and the capacity you need before buying.
Storage
Minisforum advertises three M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD slots. It says two slots default to PCIe 3.0 x4 and can be changed to PCIe 4.0 x4 in BIOS. The page also mentions support for U.2 NVMe and M.2 22110 drives, but its capacity descriptions distinguish drive types; confirm the exact supported drive and capacity for your intended slot rather than assuming a single maximum applies to every configuration. No SSD is included with the $799 barebone system.

What should you compare before buying?
The barebone sticker price is only one part of the cost. Compare the MS-A2 with alternatives using the finished system you plan to run and the equipment your setup requires.
- Total configured cost: Add RAM, SSDs, and any operating-system license you need.
- Networking: Compare port count, speed, and connector type. Include compatible SFP+ modules, cables, or switch ports where necessary.
- Workload performance: Compare processor generation and core count, but look for independent benchmarks relevant to your work. The listed specifications do not establish sustained performance.
- Expansion and capacity: Check memory limits, storage interfaces and slot count, and the bandwidth of expansion slots.
- Practical ownership details: Check power use, cooling and noise measurements, warranty, shipping, and returns for the seller and region where you plan to buy.
The available manufacturer material does not provide independent measurements of sustained performance, thermals, noise, power draw, or real-world 10GbE throughput. Minisforum notes that actual performance may vary with temperature and usage environment.

Is the $799 MS-A2 a good fit?
The listing is most relevant if you want a compact system with a high-core-count Ryzen processor, multiple NVMe slots, and SFP+ networking, and you are prepared to supply the missing components. It is less straightforward to compare with ready-to-use mini PCs: first price the RAM, storage, operating system, and network accessories your setup needs. The $799 offer is a live US-store price for one barebone configuration, not a permanent price or a guarantee of the price in another region or at another retailer.
