Short answer: Minecraft Dungeons II confirms that you can upgrade enchantments with the Enchantsmith, but its published systems guide does not confirm upgrading a Unique item itself, rerolling its effects, or trading gear with another player. Treat those three item-level mechanics as unconfirmed unless Mojang or the live game establishes them.
Can you upgrade Unique gear?
Mojang’s published systems guide confirms upgrades for enchantments, not for the underlying gear item. It describes collecting enchantment books into a personal library, applying an effect to a gear slot through the Enchantsmith, and upgrading and leveling enchantments over time. The guide does not say that a Unique item’s level, base stats, or identity can be upgraded.
The distinction matters: improving an enchantment associated with a gear slot is not the same as upgrading the Unique item itself. Mojang has not specified costs, requirements, or rarity restrictions for enchantment upgrades in the guide.
Can you reroll a Unique item’s effects?
The guide says items have a chance to feature random effects, so item effects can vary. It does not describe a reroll button, service, or other way to replace those effects. It also does not explain whether Unique items have fixed effects or can receive random ones. For now, rerolling Unique gear is unconfirmed.

Can you trade Unique gear with another player?
The official material covered here does not confirm player-to-player gear trading. Co-op play does not, by itself, establish that players can transfer items, so do not assume that a teammate can give you a Unique item.
What gear systems are confirmed?
Mojang’s article, “New gameplay systems in Minecraft Dungeons II,” published 31 August 2026, describes a broader equipment setup than the original game. Combat slots expand from six to twelve. The listed equipment options include four armor pieces—helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots—as well as talismans, which provide passive bonuses.

For enchantment progression, the article says: “Enchantments can also be upgraded and leveled up over time, allowing you to continually refine and strengthen your favorite builds as you prepare for the challenges ahead!” That statement is about enchantments; it does not establish item-level upgrades, rerolls, or trading.
