To install Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Windows 11, install Minecraft Launcher from the Microsoft Store or Minecraft.net, then sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game. In Launcher, choose Bedrock and select Install or Play. If you do not own it, the official PC listing offers a purchase route, and Minecraft also provides a Windows 10/11 trial.
Before you install Minecraft Bedrock on Windows 11
- Have a Microsoft account ready. Sign in with the account used to purchase Minecraft, or the account you intend to use if buying it. When you download Launcher from Minecraft.net, Microsoft Store must still be signed in for installation to work, according to Minecraft Help.
- Check the listed storage needs. Minecraft’s PC listing gives Bedrock a 4 GB minimum and 8 GB recommended storage requirement. These are the game’s listed needs, not a guarantee of total disk usage after updates, worlds, or add-ons. See the Minecraft PC listing.
Download and install Minecraft Launcher
Minecraft describes Launcher as “your hub for accessing all of your favorite Minecraft games on PC.” The official download page supports Windows 10/11 and offers the Launcher through Microsoft Store or Minecraft.net: Download Minecraft.
- Choose an official download route. Open the Microsoft Store and search for Minecraft Launcher, or visit Minecraft’s download page and select the Windows option.
- Sign in to Microsoft Store. Use the Microsoft account associated with your purchase. This Store login is needed even if you downloaded the Launcher installer from Minecraft.net.
- Install and open Launcher. Follow the installation prompts, then launch Minecraft Launcher and sign in with the same Microsoft account.
- Select Bedrock and install it. In Launcher, choose Minecraft for Windows (the Bedrock edition) and select Install or Play if the account owns it. Wait for the download to complete, then select Play.
Check whether your Microsoft account owns Bedrock
In Launcher, an owned edition shows Play or Install; an edition the account does not own shows Buy Now, according to Minecraft Help’s ownership guide. If you previously bought Minecraft, check the account you used at purchase before paying again. Minecraft says Java and Bedrock were released as a PC bundle on June 7, 2022; which editions are available to you depends on the account’s ownership, so check its Launcher or Store library.
If you do not own Minecraft Bedrock
Use the official Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC listing to review the Windows purchase option. The listing covers both PC editions; select Bedrock for Windows when you want the cross-platform version. Price and availability can vary by region, so check the current listing for your location.

If you want to try the game first, Minecraft’s free-trial page lists Bedrock for Windows 10/11. Minecraft describes the trial as approximately 100 minutes of in-game time, or about five in-game days.
Bedrock or Java: which PC edition should you install?
Choose Bedrock if your priority is playing with people on supported consoles and mobile devices. Minecraft’s PC listing names Windows 10/11, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PS5, PS4, and mobile for Bedrock cross-platform play. The same listing describes Java’s cross-platform compatibility as more limited; it is the PC-oriented alternative. The editions are distinct, so selecting one does not make it interchangeable with the other for cross-play.

If Launcher installation fails
Minecraft Help documents the Xbox app as an alternative way to install Launcher on a Windows PC:
- Install or open the Xbox app for Windows PC.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account you intend to use for Minecraft.
- Search for “Minecraft Launcher.”
- Select Get or Install and follow the prompts.
If you used the Minecraft.net installer, first confirm Microsoft Store is signed in to the intended account. A mismatch can prevent installation or make a purchase appear unavailable. Minecraft Help also mentions resetting Microsoft Store as an option, but consult its troubleshooting guidance for the applicable steps rather than using an unverified repair command.
