Microsoft PowerToys v0.93.0, released August 13, 2025, gave the Settings app its most visible change: a redesigned card-based dashboard with quick actions and a shortcuts overview. The release also updated Command Palette, Mouse Utilities, Peek, and Quick Accent. These notes describe version 0.93.0, not the current PowerToys release.
What changed in PowerToys Settings?
The old module list was replaced by a dashboard organized around cards. Microsoft says the new layout surfaces quick actions and an overview of shortcuts, making it easier to find utilities and their controls. The update also includes shorter setting descriptions, improved typography and spacing in the “What’s New” release-notes section, and additional deep links to settings pages.

What else is new in version 0.93.0?
Command Palette
Microsoft’s release notes report that the team resolved more than 99 Command Palette issues. Changes include restored Clipboard History, context-menu shortcuts, the ability to pin favorite apps, and history in Run.
Microsoft also reported reductions of about 15% in startup memory usage, 40% in load time, 70% in built-in extension loading time, and 55% in installation size. The release attributes these figures to full Ahead-of-Time (AOT) compilation in Windows App SDK. They are figures published by Microsoft in 2025, not independently verified benchmarks. The notes also report more than 600 new unit tests and doubled UI automation coverage.
#1 Best Overall
Mouse Utilities
A new spotlight highlighting mode places a large transparent circle around the cursor and dims the rest of the screen. It is intended to help presenters direct an audience’s attention to a particular area.
Peek
Peek gained preview and thumbnail support for Binary G-code (.bgcode) files used in 3D printing, including compressed files and embedded thumbnails. This lets users preview supported files; it is not a tool for creating or editing 3D models.
Quick Accent
Quick Accent added Vietnamese language support for the vowels a, e, i, o, u, and y, plus the letter d.

How to get PowerToys—and choose the right installer
The v0.93.0 release page lists Windows executable installers for both x64 and ARM64 processors, each available as a per-user or machine-wide installation. Choose the architecture that matches the device and the installation scope that fits who needs access. The versioned release page documents the assets for 0.93.0; it does not establish that this is the current version or that these remain the recommended downloads.
For general PowerToys installation, Microsoft’s repository points users to GitHub releases, Microsoft Store, and WinGet. It says most devices use the x64 per-user installer and provides WinGet commands for user and machine scope. Check the official PowerToys repository for current installation instructions, and use the v0.93.0 release page for the version-specific installer list and SHA-256 hashes.
Quick Recap
- Architecture: Match x64 or ARM64 to the device.
- Scope: Select per-user or machine-wide installation according to who should use the installation.
- Channel: Use the current official guidance to choose among GitHub releases, Microsoft Store, or WinGet.
- Verification: For a v0.93.0 executable, consult the release page’s asset-specific SHA-256 hash.
