Micron rates it for sequential reads up to 2,200 MB/s and sequential writes up to 1,070 MB/s under specified fresh-out-of-box test conditions. Notebookcheck lists separate workload results, including a DiskSpd performance rating of 18.4 points and an AS SSD Copy Game average of 857 MB/s. Those figures describe different tests and should not be treated as a single score or a guarantee for your PC.
Micron 2210 512GB specifications
Micron’s April 2020 product brief lists these specifications for the 512GB version. The figures are specific to this capacity; Micron lists different specifications for the 1TB and 2TB models.
| Specification | 512GB MTFDHBA512QFD |
|---|---|
| Form factor | M.2 22×80 (2280) |
| Interface | PCIe Gen3 x4, NVMe 1.3 |
| Sequential read | Up to 2,200 MB/s, 128KB transfers, fresh out of box |
| Sequential write | Up to 1,070 MB/s, 128KB transfers, fresh out of box |
| Random read | Up to 150K IOPS, 4KB transfers, fresh out of box |
| Random write | Up to 260K IOPS, 4KB transfers, fresh out of box |
| Endurance | 180TBW |
These are Micron’s specifications, not Notebookcheck measurements. Transfer size and drive state matter: a benchmark using a different workload, or a drive that is no longer fresh out of box, need not reproduce the listed maximums. The 2,200 MB/s read and 1,070 MB/s write values are for this 512GB model; Micron’s 2020 announcement of up to 1,800 MB/s sequential write refers to the product family, not this capacity’s listed write rating. See Micron’s 2210 product brief and 2020 family announcement.
What the published benchmark results show
Notebookcheck’s page for the exact model, Micron 2210 MTFDHBA512QFD, reports results from multiple test suites. Two examples are:
#1 Best Overall
- Sequential read/write up to (MB/s): 2200/1070
- Random read/write up to (IOPS): 150K/260K
- Form factor, Interface: M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x4
- Compatibility: all systems with M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe slot
- MTTF: 2.0 Million Hours
- DiskSpd performance rating: 18.4 points.
- AS SSD Copy Game: 857 MB/s average.
The rating is expressed in points, while Copy Game is a transfer-rate result in MB/s; they are not directly comparable. Neither should be substituted for Micron’s sequential read or write specifications. Notebookcheck’s page is a database of test results, not a guarantee of performance in a particular machine, and its tables may change as records are added. How to interpret the speed numbers
Sequential throughput
Sequential read and write measure transfers of data arranged in order. They are useful reference points for large file operations, but the manufacturer’s maximum figures use 128KB transfers and fresh-out-of-box conditions. They do not predict every everyday task or guarantee sustained performance for every workload.

- FORM FACTOR – The space-saving 22 x 30mm design fits compatible laptops, tablets, mini PCs, and handheld gaming devices that support an M.2 2230 PCIe NVMe SSD.tible thin laptops, notebooks, tablets, mini PCs, and other compact devices that require an M.2 2230 NVMe drive.
- 512GB STORAGE CAPACITY – Provides practical storage space for the operating system, applications, documents, photos, videos, and games while improving startup and file-loading speeds.
- ADVANCED MICRON QLC NAND – Built with Micron 3D QLC NAND technology to provide a balance of performance, storage density, power efficiency, and value for everyday computing workloads.
- This SSD is OEM new, carefully removed from brand-new systems and never used for data storage. Fully tested for performance and reliability, offering a cost-effective upgrade solution for laptops and desktops
Random IOPS
IOPS counts input/output operations per second. Micron’s 150K random-read and 260K random-write figures are specified at 4KB transfer size, also fresh out of box. Because these are a different access pattern and unit from sequential MB/s, they should not be compared as if they measured the same thing.
Benchmark ratings and copy tests
A DiskSpd score and an AS SSD copy result reflect their named test methods and workloads. To compare SSDs meaningfully, use the same benchmark version and workload, compare the same capacity where possible, and distinguish short bursts from sustained transfers when that information is available. The published results cited here do not establish a controlled, same-system comparison with current drives, so they cannot identify a present-day winner or loser.

Is the 2210 still worth buying?
Micron marks the 2210 family obsolete. Its official product page labels the family obsolete, and the part-detail page labels the Opal-enabled variant MTFDHBA512QFD-1AX15ABYY obsolete. The shortened identifier in a listing may omit a suffix that distinguishes a variant, so check the complete part number and the listing’s actual stock and condition rather than assuming the manufacturer currently sells it. See Micron’s 2210 product page and part detail for MTFDHBA512QFD-1AX15ABYY.
Before choosing this drive or a replacement, compare more than headline sequential speed. Check capacity, workload-specific results, interface, endurance and warranty terms, as well as the computer’s supported drive length and storage configuration. The available benchmark figures are not a matched contemporary comparison across those criteria.

Check compatibility before installing
M.2 2280 describes the drive’s physical format and length; NVMe and PCIe Gen3 x4 describe its storage interface. Those labels alone do not establish that it will work in a particular laptop or desktop. Verify the computer’s supported M.2 size, whether the slot supports NVMe/PCIe rather than only SATA, whether a suitable slot is available, and whether the system vendor imposes restrictions. The SSD’s specifications cannot confirm compatibility with an unspecified host computer.
