To build a balanced party in METRIA, match your characters’ elements to the enemy you are facing, then choose skills that cover useful functions: dealing damage, strengthening allies, or weakening enemies. The official guidance is to consider both the enemy’s element and each party member’s skill effects—not to follow a fixed class lineup.
How party building works in METRIA
METRIA’s official advice is concise: “Form your party while considering the element of your enemy and the skill effect of the characters in your party!” The guidance appears in an official notice about Anrica’s skills, dated October 3, 2024 (METRIA official news).
That means party balance is encounter-dependent. Start with the enemy, check how your available characters’ elements and skills fit, and avoid assuming that a character belongs to only one rigid role. The official notices describe what particular skills do; they do not establish universal tank, healer, or mage classes, or a single best party for every fight.
What each character contributes
Think of roles as functions provided by skills, rather than permanent class labels. A character may contribute damage while also affecting allies or enemies through other skills.

Damage
Damage is one consideration when choosing a party, but the cited sources do not provide a current ranking of characters or a reliable damage comparison. Judge the damage contribution alongside element and skill effects rather than treating an unsupported tier list as a party-building rule.
Buffs for allies
Some skills strengthen party members. An official Lunaria notice describes examples of defense, attack, elemental-damage, and skill-damage buffs. These are examples of Lunaria’s documented skill effects, not evidence that all characters can provide the same buffs or that Lunaria must fill a dedicated support class (METRIA official news, April 2, 2024).

Debuffs on enemies
Other skills weaken opponents. In the official Anrica notice, Bewitching Swamp reduces enemy defense, while Foxfire can reduce enemy attack. Those effects illustrate two useful functions: making an enemy more vulnerable and reducing the pressure it puts on your party. Confirm current skill descriptions in the game before relying on a particular effect.
How to account for elements
Use the enemy’s element as a factor in your party choice. The official advice supports checking element before an encounter, but the available current official information does not establish a complete elemental advantage cycle or its multipliers. Do not assume a full matchup chart from a broad claim that elements have advantages; verify the relevant relationship in the live game or a current official guide.

When comparing two characters, ask whether their element suits the encounter and whether their skills offer a useful effect on allies or enemies. That gives you a practical basis for choosing without inventing numerical bonuses or assuming an element is always superior.
A practical way to choose a party
- Check the encounter. Identify the enemy and its element before selecting your lineup.
- Compare character elements. Consider how each available character’s element relates to that enemy. If the game does not make the advantage clear, check the current in-game information rather than relying on an unverified chart.
- Read the skill effects. Look for what a skill actually does: damage, an ally buff, or an enemy debuff. Consider whether it affects attack, defense, elemental damage, or skill damage where the description says so.
- Cover useful functions. Build around the encounter’s needs instead of forcing a preset class composition. A damage contribution plus an ally buff or enemy debuff may be useful, but the best combination depends on the available characters and fight.
- Reassess after changes. Check live skill descriptions and party behavior when game updates alter skills or mechanics.
Is DPS + buffer + debuffer the best composition?
A player-authored GameFAQs guide updated January 25, 2025 suggests “DPS + Support (Buffer) + Debuffer” as a standard composition (GameFAQs player guide). Treat that as a community heuristic, not an official requirement. It can help you think about complementary functions, but it does not prove that every encounter needs exactly one character of each type or that this trio outperforms other choices.
