Meta’s Kuna Data Center in Idaho is online and operational, according to the company’s September 3, 2026 update—not a project still awaiting construction. Meta says the facility represents more than $1.2 billion in investment, supported 1,600 skilled-trade workers at peak construction, and is expected to support about 100 operational jobs.
What is Meta’s Idaho data center?
It is Meta’s data center in Kuna, Idaho, southwest of Boise. Meta’s current U.S. data center locations page lists Kuna as an operating site. The company says it chose Kuna for its infrastructure, workforce, and community partners: “We chose Kuna because of its strong infrastructure, talented workforce, and outstanding community partners.”
Meta described the facility in 2023 as one of its first built using a new design intended to support next-generation AI systems. That describes the design’s purpose; it does not establish which AI workloads, if any, are running at the Kuna site.

What Meta says about electricity and water
Meta says it coordinated with Idaho Power in advance on the facility’s energy needs, matches its electricity use with 100% clean and renewable energy, and pays the full cost of its energy use. These are Meta’s statements about its arrangements; the announcement does not provide an independently verified account of how the facility affects the regional grid.
