The cycling and transit additions were announced for rollout starting later in September 2026 in the US and Canada; that announcement does not confirm availability on every device or route. Walking navigation is described as beta and is limited to select cities.
What navigation features are changing?
Walking directions use visible landmarks
Meta says the glasses can describe a turn using something in view—for example, “turn left at the yellow house”—rather than relying only on a street name. The Ray-Ban FAQ describes pedestrian navigation as a map on the glasses’ display with audio directions. Meta’s newer announcement describes the landmark-based guidance as a change to turn-by-turn walking directions. Meta’s September 23, 2026 announcement explains the update.
Cycling directions and transit departures
Meta announced voice-requested, turn-by-turn cycling directions and real-time transit departures shown on the glasses. The company said rollout would start later in September 2026 in the US and Canada. It did not provide a city-by-city coverage list for these additions, so an announcement for those countries should not be read as a guarantee that the feature is active everywhere.
Which glasses and cities are covered?
The visual-navigation features in this announcement are for Meta Ray-Ban Display, the display-equipped model—not automatically every pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Meta’s September 2025 launch announcement described the Meta Neural Band as included with the Display glasses. It listed a historical starting price of $799 USD for the glasses and band; that launch price is not confirmation of today’s price or stock. The Ray-Ban FAQ accessed October 7, 2026 lists pedestrian navigation in these cities:
- United States: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
- Canada: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.
- United Kingdom: London and Manchester.
- France: Paris.
- Italy: Rome, Milan, and Naples.
This is the FAQ’s dated list for pedestrian navigation, not a guarantee that every route or feature works identically in each city. Check the Ray-Ban AI glasses FAQ for current coverage. The FAQ says map data comes from Overture and OpenStreetMap, but does not publish an accuracy guarantee.

How to start navigation on Meta Ray-Ban Display
- Allow location access: In the Meta AI mobile app, grant Always On or Allow all the time location access and enable Precise location. The FAQ says these permissions are needed for local search and navigation.
- Open Maps on the glasses: In the glasses’ display menu, open Maps.
- Choose a destination: Search by dictation or browse nearby categories, then select a location. A voice request such as “Hey Meta, navigate me to [location]” is one example given in the official materials.
- Start navigation: Follow the on-glasses display and audio guidance. You can also send a selected location to the navigation app on your phone.
Menu wording can vary as software changes; use the Ray-Ban FAQ for the current setup instructions.

What to keep in mind
- Beta and availability: Ray-Ban calls pedestrian navigation beta and limits it to select cities. The later cycling and transit announcement does not establish a complete list of supported cities or confirm availability on a particular device.
- Location privacy: Local search and navigation require the companion app to have always-on and precise location access. If you do not want to grant those permissions, the described navigation setup may not work as intended.
- Accuracy: The official materials name the map-data sources but provide no independent navigation-accuracy study or published success rate. Landmark instructions may be useful, but they are not an accuracy guarantee.
- Model differences: The announced visual navigation is tied to Meta Ray-Ban Display. The materials do not establish equivalent navigation coverage across every Meta glasses model.
