In a single-image comparison published by ClawdBytes on September 22, 2026, SupaVoxel was the fastest service and Tripo produced the most faces—but Tripo’s mesh failed the article’s watertight check. Meshy and Hyper3D (Rodin) also passed that check. These are results from one reported run, not a service-wide ranking, and a watertight software mesh is not proof that a model will print successfully.

What the comparison tested

ClawdBytes published “Benchmarking Meshy, Tripo, Hyper3D, and SupaVoxel for 3D Printing” on September 22, 2026, attributing the benchmark to developer Nadia Pruitt. It says the same source image was used to generate STL files, then a standard check.py script using the Python library trimesh measured face count, watertight status, and generation time. The article does not provide the script or raw STL files, and no independent replication is documented. Treat the measurements below as the article’s reported results for one run.

Service Reported faces Generation time Credits reported Watertight check
SupaVoxel 248,116 12 seconds 0.5 Passed
Tripo 1.9 million 58 seconds 55 Failed
Meshy 205,742 61 seconds 20 Passed
Hyper3D (Rodin) 612,904 41 seconds 0.5 Passed

All values in the table are attributed to the single benchmark run reported by ClawdBytes; its reported credit figures are not current universal prices.

What the results do—and do not—show

Face count is not a quality score

Tripo’s reported 1.9 million faces were the most in this run, but its mesh failed the reported watertight check. More faces can mean a denser mesh; by themselves, they do not establish better shape accuracy, cleaner topology, or a more printable object. The benchmark provides no independent visual assessment or print-tolerance measurements with which to judge those qualities.

SUNLU PLA Filament 1.75mm, 250g Spool Bundle, 3D Printer Filament
  • 【More Colors for More Projects】 Multiple compact 250g mini spools provide practical amounts of different colors for small prints, multicolor models, accent parts, and test prints. Explore more colors without filling your shelf with full 1kg spools or leaving large amounts of rarely used colors behind
  • 【Easy to Print PLA】 Built for smooth printing with standard PLA profiles, low warping, and dependable layer adhesion. A practical everyday material for beginners and hobbyists making models, toys, decor, prototypes, and utility parts
  • 【Neatly Wound for Reliable Feeding】 Precision winding supports smooth, consistent feeding and helps reduce snags and mid-print interruptions. Keep light tension on the filament end while loading or unloading, and secure it before storage to prevent loose loops
  • 【Consistent Diameter and Steady Extrusion】 A consistent 1.75mm ±0.02mm diameter supports stable flow, even layers, and clean detail from the first layer to the final layer. Reliable extrusion means less time troubleshooting and more time printing
  • 【Fits Most FDM Printers】 Designed for most 1.75mm FDM printers with external, top-mounted, or open spool holders. Each spool measures 140mm in diameter and 36mm in width, with a 53mm center hole. For Bambu Lab AMS or AMS lite, search MakerWorld for a compatible 250g spool adapter before use

A watertight check is not a print test

A watertight result is a software mesh-check outcome, not evidence that a slicer accepted the STL or that a physical print succeeded. ClawdBytes reports no printed objects, slicer results, or measurements of print tolerances. The result is useful as an initial geometry signal, not a guarantee of a successful print.

Speed and credits cover only part of the workflow

SupaVoxel had the shortest reported generation time in this run. The table does not establish the time or cost to obtain a usable final model after retries, texture generation, conversion, export, or manual mesh repair. Those steps can change which option is most efficient for a particular job.

Why the credit totals are not directly comparable

Each service’s credits belong to its own models, settings, and billing system. The benchmark does not give enough detail to reconcile its credit figures with current vendor pricing. Official product pages offer context, but API pricing should not be treated as consumer-plan pricing, and plan terms can change.

Service Official context relevant to cost or workflow
Meshy Its pricing page lists image-to-3D generation at 25 credits for Meshy 7 and 20 credits for Meshy 6. It also describes different licensing terms for free and paid tiers; paid plans support commercial use, subject to the stated plan terms. Meshy pricing
Tripo The developer pricing page lists image-to-3D at 20 credits without texture and 30 with standard texture, with additional charges for add-ons; it states that 100 credits equal US$1 for API pay-as-you-go. These are API figures, not necessarily Studio-plan costs. Tripo’s H3.1 documentation identifies stable release snapshot v3.1-20260211, supports single-image and multiview input, and describes extra costs for detailed geometry and topology options. Developer pricing · H3.1 model documentation
Hyper3D (Rodin) Its pricing page describes a free pay-by-result workflow and a Creator tier at US$30 month-to-month or US$24 per month equivalent on annual billing, with US$288 billed today. Documentation lists GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ, glTF, 3MF, and DXF exports; it says one image is enough for many objects and optional extra views can provide guidance. Its watertight statements are vendor claims, separate from the benchmark’s one reported sample. Pricing · Image-to-3D and export documentation
SupaVoxel Its documentation lists STL export and describes subscription tiers, credit rates, speed, and commercial-use terms. Those are vendor-published claims, not independent confirmation of the benchmark’s measurements. SupaVoxel documentation

Check the linked vendor terms at the time you use a service: model version, texture settings, free versus paid access, and API versus Studio billing all affect the amount being compared.

How to use this comparison for a real project

  1. Match the input and settings. Use the same image and comparable generation settings. If a service offers multiview input or extra geometry options, note that the job is no longer a like-for-like single-image comparison.
  2. Confirm the deliverable. Check that your selected plan supports STL export and that the output format fits your next step. Hyper3D’s documentation lists STL and 3MF; verify export availability and entitlements for the other services in their current product documentation.
  3. Inspect the mesh, not just the face count. Check for holes, disconnected parts, thin walls, and unwanted internal geometry. A watertight result is a useful check, but it does not replace inspection in your intended slicer.
  4. Measure the full cost to a usable file. Include generation credits, textures or add-ons, retries, conversion, and any repair time. Compare equivalent plan types and model settings rather than treating the benchmark’s credit totals as a price list.
  5. For a physical object, validate in the print workflow. Open the STL in the slicer and assess whether the geometry and dimensions suit the printer and material you intend to use. The cited comparison did not test printers or physical prints.

Which service should you try first?

If speed in this specific run is your main signal, SupaVoxel was fastest. If you are considering Tripo because of its high reported face count, account for its failed watertight check in the same run and inspect the generated mesh before relying on it. Hyper3D/Rodin had more reported faces than Meshy in this run, and both passed the reported check. None of those observations establishes which service will make the best model for a different image, settings, version, or use case.

For print-oriented work, choose by the output you can verify and use: comparable inputs, an appropriate export, inspected geometry, and the time and cost of any repair. This benchmark is a narrow data point for that decision, not a substitute for checking your own result.
