It combines automated scrubbing with facility mapping, route planning, obstacle response and fleet reporting, according to the manufacturer. Published performance figures are vendor specifications, not independently verified results; Avidbots describes its headline cleaning-rate figure as a calculated theoretical maximum.
What is Neo 2?
Avidbots announced Neo 2 on September 1, 2020 as a next-generation autonomous commercial floor scrubber. It is designed for large sites such as airports, hospitals, malls, manufacturing facilities, retail spaces, schools, transit hubs and warehouses. The machine is commercial facility equipment intended to clean hard floors, rather than a domestic floor-cleaning appliance. Avidbots’ launch announcement and its facilities brochure describe the product and its intended settings.
How does Neo 2 work?
Mapping and autonomous operation
Avidbots says its Autonomy software uses onboard sensor data to understand a facility, localize the robot, plan routes and adapt cleaning plans when the environment changes. During deployment, the facility is mapped and a customized cleaning plan is generated. These are manufacturer descriptions; the available product material does not provide an independent technical audit of the autonomy system.
Fleet monitoring and reporting
The web-based Command Center is described by Avidbots as a fleet-monitoring and reporting tool. Its listed functions include operational status, maps, productivity measures and cleaning reports. For a buyer, these features make reporting and fleet oversight part of the evaluation—not just the scrubber’s ability to move and clean.

- Fully Autonomous Floor Cleaning – Intelligent robotic operation navigates and cleans automatically, reducing hands-on labor and allowing staff to focus on other cleaning tasks.
- Scrubs Hard Floors & Vacuums Carpet – Multi-surface cleaning system provides automatic scrubbing and dirty-water recovery on hard floors while also vacuuming carpeted areas.
- Automatic Docking, Refill & Drainage – Docking station can connect directly to a clean-water supply and drain, allowing the robot to automatically refill with clean water and discharge recovered dirty water.
- Hands-Off Cleaning Cycles – The robot can return to its docking station, drain dirty water, refill with clean water, and prepare for its next cleaning task with minimal operator involvement.
- Scheduled Automatic Cleaning – Create cleaning schedules so the robot can automatically perform assigned cleaning tasks at designated times without requiring an operator to start each cycle.
Sensor count is inconsistent in published materials
Avidbots’ launch page and brochure, along with an IEEE Spectrum article marked as sponsored by Avidbots, say Neo 2 has 10 sensors. A PR Newswire reproduction of the company’s launch release says 14. Because the published figures conflict, confirm the sensor count for the specific hardware revision with Avidbots rather than treating either number as definitive.
What performance figures are published?
Avidbots’ brochure provides the following specifications. The brochure has no publication date shown in the extracted document, and these figures are not independent performance measurements.
| Published figure | What it means | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3,900 m² (42,000 ft²) per hour | Stated cleaning rate | Avidbots labels this a calculated maximum theoretical value; it should not be read as a guaranteed rate at a working facility. |
| Up to six hours | Operation without recharging | Vendor specification; actual duration may depend on configuration and operating conditions. |
| Up to 1.35 m (4.43 ft) per second | Stated speed | This is a speed figure, not a demonstrated floor-cleaning rate. |
For planning, distinguish a stated maximum from the coverage a robot can achieve on a particular site. Layout, obstacles, cleaning requirements, operating schedule and battery logistics all matter. The available sources do not provide an independently verified site-by-site cleaning rate or a head-to-head productivity study.

Does Neo 2 disinfect surfaces as well as scrub floors?
Avidbots documents an optional high-touch surface disinfection application; it is an add-on, separate from Neo 2’s baseline floor-scrubbing function. IEEE Spectrum’s article, which is sponsored by Avidbots, says the company launched the Disinfection Add-On in September 2021 and reports Neo operating with it at Rochester Institute of Technology. These sources establish that the option was offered and used in that example, but they do not establish independent evidence of disinfection efficacy. Buyers with disinfection requirements should evaluate the specific add-on, its intended use and supporting efficacy documentation separately from the floor scrubber.
How should a facility assess Neo 2 against other scrubbers?
There is no basis in the reviewed product material to say Neo 2 is universally more productive or cost-effective than a manual walk-behind or ride-on scrubber, or another automation option. Compare the equipment against the actual site and workflow:
- Facility and floor plan: Consider usable hard-floor area, layout complexity, traffic, obstacles and the locations the machine must reach.
- Cleaning configuration: Confirm the cleaning head and other configuration details suit the flooring and required cleaning routine.
- Autonomy and obstacle response: Ask how mapping, route changes and interruptions are handled in the specific environment.
- Hours and battery logistics: Compare the facility’s schedule with the vendor’s up-to-six-hour specification and determine how charging fits into operations.
- Realistic coverage: Request a demonstration on the facility’s floors and assess the result against the theoretical maximum rate, not as though that maximum were a site guarantee.
- Reporting and fleet management: Check whether Command Center’s status, maps and reports provide the information the operations team needs.
- Staff workflow and service: Account for training, how the robot fits alongside staff tasks, and available service coverage.
- Disinfection needs: If surface disinfection is required, evaluate the optional add-on independently from baseline scrubbing.
- Total cost: Obtain a facility-specific quote and compare costs and outcomes for the relevant alternatives. The reviewed sources do not provide independently verified head-to-head costs or results.
How can a business arrange an evaluation?
Avidbots directs commercial prospects to arrange a facility demonstration through its Neo 2 product page. Ask for the proposed configuration, a site-specific operating plan, service and training details, and a quote as part of the evaluation. Current pricing and terms are not established in the cited product material. Avidbots also has materials for Neo 2W, a warehouse-oriented variant that describes virtual and live demonstrations; those materials concern Neo 2W and should not be assumed to describe the exact Neo 2 configuration.

What do customer testimonials establish?
Avidbots’ Neo product page attributes a statement to Dan Souwand, VP Equipment, Systems & Warehousing at Christie Lites, saying Neo doubled cleaning-team productivity at the company’s warehouse and let staff focus on additional tasks. The facilities brochure quotes Paul Rocha, VP Operations at Eurest Services, describing Neo as a cost-effective and productive tool. Both are vendor-published customer testimonials, not controlled studies; they illustrate reported customer experience but do not establish results another facility should expect.

The reviewed sources do not establish a current Neo 2 price, financing terms, a verified Amazon listing, independently measured comparative performance or a universal return on investment. The 2020 launch release also repeats an 80% U.S. business-concern figure and says Avidbots saw a 100% demand increase after the pandemic reached North America, but the cited material does not identify sufficient survey or methodology details to treat those as authoritative market statistics.
