Use Credits for eligible Mech and Weapon level upgrades and other purchases priced in Credits. Save A-Coins for purchases and Mech or Weapon rank upgrades that require them. Because prices and currency options vary by item and account, check the current Gear Hub, Shop, or event screen before spending; Plarium’s official guidance does not establish one best-value spending order for every player.
Credits vs. A-Coins at a glance
| Currency | Documented uses | Where Plarium says you can earn it | Practical approach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Credits | Buy Mechs, Weapons, and Pilots; upgrade Mech and Weapon levels; buy Blueprints and Implants in the Shop; open Event Crates. | Daily Login Program, Progress Path, Tournaments, Crates, Daily and Weekly Objectives, Shop purchases with A-Coins, Fortune Vaults, event milestones, Achievements, Referral Program, fallback use during upgrades when short of Credits, and sponsored videos. | Spend on eligible level upgrades and purchases shown with a Credit price. Consider whether the item fits your intended build before committing. |
| A-Coins | Buy Mechs, Weapons, and Pilots; upgrade Mech and Weapon ranks; buy Credits, Crates, Combat Point Boosters, and Blueprints in the Shop; cover missing Blueprints or Credits during some upgrades; level Pilots when short of XP; buy Implants or refresh the Implant List; open Event Crates; change a nickname. | Shop, Progress Path, Tournaments, Crates, Fortune Vaults, Daily and Weekly Objectives, event milestones, Battle Pass, Referral Program, and Achievements. | Keep them for intended purchases or rank upgrades that require A-Coins. Converting them to Credits is possible, but the official guidance does not call it universally good value. |
Plarium Support’s Game Currencies article, updated April 1, 2026, lists both currencies for acquiring Mechs, Weapons, and Pilots, but assigns different upgrade roles: Credits for levels and A-Coins for ranks. That distinction is the clearest starting point when deciding what to spend.

What Credits are best suited for
Mech and Weapon level upgrades
Plarium lists Credits as the currency for upgrading Mech and Weapon levels. Blueprints are also required for upgrades, and the Support article says A-Coins can cover missing Blueprints or Credits in specified circumstances. Check the upgrade screen for the actual requirements before spending either currency.
Credit-priced gear and Shop items
Credits can also be used to buy Mechs, Weapons, and Pilots, as well as Blueprints and Implants in the Shop and Event Crates. These are documented uses, not a guarantee that every item will be available for Credits at a given time. Use the price and currency shown in the current game screen.

What A-Coins are best suited for
Mech and Weapon rank upgrades
Plarium lists A-Coins for upgrading Mech and Weapon ranks. Before using them, inspect the specific cost and weigh the upgrade against the other purchases you want to make; the official use list does not rank these choices by value.
Purchases and other A-Coin uses
A-Coins can buy Mechs, Weapons, and Pilots, along with Shop items such as Credits, Crates, Combat Point Boosters, Blueprints, and Implants. They can also refresh the Implant List, open Event Crates, change a nickname, and help with Pilot leveling when you lack XP. A-Coins can cover missing Credits or Blueprints during some Mech and Weapon upgrades, but that makes them a convenience option rather than a universal recommendation.

How to decide before spending
- For a level upgrade, check the Credit requirement first. Credits are Plarium’s listed currency for Mech and Weapon levels. Confirm the Blueprint requirement too, since A-Coins may cover missing resources in specified circumstances.
- For a rank upgrade, check the A-Coin cost. Rank upgrades are the documented A-Coin use. Decide whether that particular item is important to your intended hangar before spending.
- For gear purchases, compare the options shown for that item. Plarium’s Gear Hub announcement says Mechs and Weapons may be acquired with Credits or A-Coins, or through in-app purchases. The available option is item-specific; do not assume every item accepts both currencies.
- For A-Coins-to-Credits, judge the displayed cost and what else you would use the A-Coins for. Plarium lists Credits as available in the Shop for A-Coins and mentions A-Coins as a fallback when Credits are short during upgrades. The reviewed guidance gives no exchange rate or universal value judgment.
- Before buying a currency pack, verify the current offer. The official Mech Arena Store lists digital A-Coins and Credits packs and requires a Plarium ID login. Offers and prices can change, so check the store directly.
What the Gear Hub announcement does—and does not—tell you
Plarium’s official Gear Hub announcement, posted August 31, 2023, described eight Tiers unlocked in sequence. It reported that 12 Mechs and 38 Weapons were made available for Credits or A-Coins at launch. Those figures describe the 2023 launch, not today’s inventory. Use the current in-game Gear Hub to check an item’s availability and price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is one currency always the better value?
No universal best-spend order is established by the cited official sources. They document how the currencies can be used, but do not compare player outcomes or declare that converting A-Coins to Credits—or spending either currency on a particular item—is always worthwhile. The sensible choice depends on your account’s current options, the displayed cost, and the upgrades or purchases you actually intend to make.
