Samsung dryers do not all share the same cycles, controls, icons, error codes, vent-test buttons, or installation requirements. Find your model and its manual through Samsung Support before trying a button sequence, interpreting a code, or applying a vent specification.
Find your Samsung dryer model and manual first
Look for the model code on the dryer’s rating label, then use Samsung’s support lookup to locate the matching manual. Check that the manual and support information apply to your model and market: US and UK support pages, for example, do not necessarily use the same terminology or cover the same codes.
The manual is the authority for your dryer’s control panel, cycles, installation limits, vent requirements, icons, and troubleshooting steps. Do not assume a control combination or specification applies across the Samsung range.
How to use a Samsung dryer day to day
Choose a cycle for the load
Select the cycle and options that suit the fabric and care instructions. If clothes come out damp, first check that the selected cycle and settings are appropriate for the load. Some models offer Eco Dry, which can use less heat and take longer; consult your manual to confirm whether your dryer has this feature and how it affects the selected cycle.

Keep the lint filter clear
Remove lint from the filter before or after every load. A clogged filter can restrict airflow and contribute to longer drying times. Follow the manual for the filter’s location and cleaning instructions.
Use connected features only if your model supports them
Some Samsung dryers support Smart Care, which uses a phone camera to recognize or interpret displayed error codes. Supported models may also work with SmartThings for monitoring or control. Availability depends on the dryer and the required app, Wi-Fi, and account setup; check your model’s manual and Samsung’s compatibility information rather than assuming these features are included.

- Check the exhaust path. Look for a kinked, flattened, blocked, or disconnected duct that you can safely inspect. Restricted airflow can reduce drying performance.
- Consider the installation and vent route. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance says the exhaust duct should not be plastic or foil, should not exceed the maximum for the dryer, and should avoid unnecessary turns and crushing or kinking. That guidance says each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum duct length by six feet. Treat those figures as US guidance only: verify the exact manual, duct arrangement, and local requirements before applying them to your installation.
- Arrange service if basic checks do not help. Heating components can require professional attention. Do not open the appliance or attempt internal repairs unless Samsung’s model-specific instructions explicitly direct a safe user procedure.
Clean the dryer vent and maintain airflow
Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year, even if you have not noticed a problem. The right method depends on the vent’s accessibility and layout; a vacuum or a duct-cleaning service may help, but not every installation is safe for an owner to reach or clean.

Keep the exhaust path unobstructed and sealed, and follow the model manual for acceptable materials, maximum length, and routing. If you cannot safely access the duct, or are unsure whether it meets the dryer’s requirements, use a qualified vent-cleaning professional.
Run a vent blockage test only when your model supports it
Samsung lists different button combinations and result indications for different dryers, so there is no universal vent-test sequence. Use the exact manual for your model. If it directs you to run the test, follow its preparation and safety instructions, including any requirement for a cool, empty drum and instructions not to open the door during the test.

Samsung dryer spins but does not heat
A dryer that tumbles without heating may have an installation or supply issue, particularly if it was recently installed or moved. Gas and electric dryers need different checks; do not apply one type’s supply instructions to the other.
- Electric dryer: Samsung’s US guidance says an electric dryer requires a 240 V outlet and a correctly installed power cord. A tripped breaker may be part of the problem, but repeated electrical trouble needs a qualified professional.
- Gas dryer: Samsung’s US guidance says the gas line must be correctly installed and turned on. Do not attempt gas-line work yourself; contact a qualified professional.
These supply details are US-specific and are not a substitute for the installation instructions for your model and market. If the supply appears correct but the dryer still does not heat, arrange Samsung or qualified appliance service rather than opening the machine.
Samsung dryer displays an error code
Error codes are model- and market-dependent clues, not a single universal diagnostic list. Look up the displayed code using the exact model and the support page for the market where the dryer was sold. Samsung’s US error-code guidance covers categories such as voltage, jammed buttons, door, temperature, heating, communication, frequency, and vent tests. Vent-test results should not be confused with ordinary operating error codes.

For a code that points to airflow, clean the filter and check the vent if it is safe to do so. Retry only checks described in your manual. If a code persists, or indicates a component fault, contact Samsung support or a qualified technician. Samsung UK’s information-code guidance, updated 18 July 2025, says that in most cases an information code is not a mechanical problem; that is not a guarantee that every persistent code is harmless, and Samsung advises seeking support when codes remain.

Icons vary among Samsung models and can indicate settings, operating status, or a condition that needs attention. Use the icon chart in the manual for your exact dryer instead of relying on a chart for another generation or market. Samsung’s dryer icon guidance and supported Smart Care features may help with interpretation, but app availability and functions depend on the model.
Samsung dryer smells or smokes
Respond to smoke or a gas odor as a safety issue, not routine troubleshooting. Samsung’s guidance is to clear the building and contact emergency services if a gas dryer is smoking or you smell gas. If an electric dryer is smoking, turn it off and contact Samsung support. Do not continue running the dryer while investigating an unresolved smoke or gas hazard.

When to call Samsung or a qualified technician
Stop at basic, user-safe checks when the problem persists or calls for work on internal components, wiring, or a gas supply. Contact Samsung support with the model code and the displayed code or symptom; use a qualified professional for electrical, gas, vent-access, or appliance work that is outside the manual’s user instructions.
