Mason Taylor is out for the New York Jets’ Week 4 game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Fantasy managers should leave him out of their lineups for this game. The NFL lists his injury as a thumb injury and his status as “Out”; the Jets’ report also lists him as OUT.
What the Week 4 reports say
The NFL’s Week 4 injury report lists Taylor as a tight end with a thumb injury, no participation in practice, and a game status of Out. The Jets’ report agrees: it records DNP (Did Not Participate) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with a final game status of OUT. These reports are specific to the Jets’ October 4 game against the Bears.
How fantasy managers should verify an injury report
- Check the week and opponent. Make sure the report applies to the game you are managing. Taylor’s Out designation here is for Jets-Bears in Week 4, not a standing update for later games.
- Read the final game-status designation. The NFL and Jets both list Taylor as Out/OUT. That is the game-specific status fantasy managers should use for this matchup.
- Use practice entries as context. Taylor did not participate in any of the three practices listed by the Jets. Practice participation helps explain the report, but it is not a substitute for the final game designation.
- Check again before a later kickoff. For another game week, consult that week’s current Jets or NFL report rather than carrying this Week 4 status forward.
What is known about his recent absence—and what is not
The Jets’ Week 3 Friday report also listed Taylor as Out with a thumb injury and showed DNP on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Along with the Week 4 listing, that supports that he missed two consecutive games. The reports do not provide a more specific diagnosis, severity assessment, treatment plan, or return date, so none can be inferred from these listings.
