Marvel’s Wolverine update 1.002.001, released October 6, 2026, adds a toggle for story-related Scent trails, activated with the Hint button (R3 by default). Insomniac also says it addresses additional community-reported bugs and crashes, but the note does not list them individually.
What changed in Marvel’s Wolverine update 1.002.001?
The latest update listed in Insomniac’s official notes adds an option to toggle story-related Scent trails with the Hint button, which defaults to R3. The notes also say the update addresses additional bugs and crashes reported by the community, without identifying specific issues or giving a count. Insomniac’s patch notes do not establish that every trail or sense cue can be disabled.
How the toggle differs from earlier trail changes
A September 25, 2026 hotfix, version 1.001.005, reduced the opacity of Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators. Insomniac said then that it was evaluating toggleable options. That opacity adjustment changed how prominent those visuals appeared; the October 6 update adds a specific toggle for story-related Scent trails. The notes do not say that Audio Sense indicators or other cues share the new toggle. The official patch notes cover the October updates, while the hotfix notes describe the September change.

Other features are not new to update 1.002.001
The trail toggle is a patch addition, but several substantial options and modes are broader Marvel’s Wolverine features. PlayStation’s feature announcement describes New Game Plus with exclusive Techniques and Level Caps, Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges, and Photo Mode, which was available with a day-one update. It also promotes “over 100+ new, returning and improved Accessibility Features.” PlayStation’s feature announcement gives examples including High Contrast visuals, English Audio Description, Global Game Speed, and Strong Haptic Signals.
