Start with the preset that matches your hardware and display, then protect frame-time stability. On PC, NVIDIA’s published tiers run from a GTX 1060 6 GB at 1080p Low without ray tracing to an RTX 3080 at 2160p Ultra with RT Ultra; these are specification starting points, not guaranteed frame rates. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, choose the performance-oriented mode for responsiveness or Ray Tracing Mode for richer reflections. Xbox Series S has a separate uncapped option that can vary from 30–60 FPS and is best paired with VRR. Nintendo Switch is a cloud-streamed edition, so PC slider advice does not apply.

- Confirm the installation requirements. The Steam listing specifies DirectX 12, 8 GB of RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended and 80 GB of free storage. Those are prerequisites, not a promise that every system at the minimum will hold a chosen frame rate.
- Choose native output resolution. Start at 1920×1080, 2560×1440 or 3840×2160 according to your monitor and GPU. Do not raise resolution and detail at the same time when diagnosing slowdowns.
- Select the closest NVIDIA reference tier. Use the non-RT or RT tables below as a starting point. AMD Radeon owners can use the same resolution-and-quality logic, but should not treat NVIDIA’s exact labels as tested Radeon equivalents.

Which PC settings are best without ray tracing?

Steam also lists Radeon RX 570 as a minimum GPU and Radeon RX 590 as a recommended GPU. The listing does not establish that either Radeon card maps exactly to the NVIDIA Low or High labels, so use those figures as hardware guidance rather than a one-to-one preset conversion.
If your GPU has less headroom, keep the output resolution your display expects and reduce effects in stages. Texture quality can consume video memory without being the sole cause of a low average; persistent hitching can also indicate CPU, memory or storage pressure. Does Guardians of the Galaxy support DLSS or FSR?

Nintendo lists this release as a digital Cloud Version: rendering is performed remotely and streamed to the Switch. It is not a conventional locally rendered cartridge or download, so PC settings such as RT quality, texture detail and DLSS/FSR are not transferable.
Nintendo recommends trying the free demo before purchase. That is especially important because cloud play depends on the player’s network path, latency and regional availability. Square Enix described the original cloud launch as limited to select regions; check the Nintendo eShop for your country rather than assuming the edition is offered everywhere.

- Test the same network and playing location you intend to use for the full game.

The developer links a possible black screen to an incorrect refresh-rate selection. Set a refresh rate your monitor actually supports, then switch to non-exclusive (borderless) fullscreen if exclusive mode remains black. Reapply the intended resolution after changing the display mode.

- Do reflections matter more than consistency? RT adds the game’s ray-traced reflections but is the first setting to lower when stability suffers.

- Are you on local hardware or a cloud stream? Local PC and console settings affect rendering; the Switch Cloud Version is governed mainly by the streaming connection.
