The Mars Space X Air automates several major parts of camper setup: electric folding lids open the trailer, powered stabilizer legs deploy, and a pump inflates the tent and awning. It is not fully hands-free. TradeRVs’ review reports that campers still need to open eight latches and move the rear tyre carrier before the ends can unfold.
What the Space X Air automates
Mars Campers designed the Space X Air as a dual-fold camper trailer. A dedicated control panel operates the electric opening lids, four stabilizer legs and inflation system for the tent and awning. The system therefore handles much of the lifting and inflation that would otherwise be manual, but a person still prepares the trailer and starts the sequence.
New Atlas reported in April 2022 that Mars described the Space X Air as Australia’s first auto-opening, auto-stabilizing and auto-inflating dual-fold camper. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified market-wide first. The same report described a low-noise pressure system intended to keep the tent inflated while camped.
What you still do by hand
TradeRVs’ review describes a setup that begins with choosing a relatively level clearing. Before the powered folding and inflation stages, the user opens eight latches and moves the rear tyre carrier out of the way. The electric controls do not remove these preparation steps.

- Park in a relatively level clearing.
- Open the eight latches.
- Move the rear tyre carrier aside so the ends can unfold.
- Use the controls to raise the folding ends and deploy the stabilizers.
- Run the pump to inflate the tent and awning.
The review estimated about 30 seconds to raise the roof and approximately three minutes for the full setup. These are that reviewer’s observations, not guaranteed times; conditions, setup familiarity and site preparation can affect the process.
Sleeping layout and reported equipment
The 2022 New Atlas feature describes two end beds, each measuring 140 × 190 cm, plus a dinette that converts into another bed. It reports Mars’ recommended capacity as four adults and two children. That is a stated family configuration, not a separately verified occupancy or comfort assessment.

Other equipment listed in the same feature includes a 20 L minibar fridge, an outdoor kitchen, two 100 L water tanks, a portable toilet and entertainment equipment. These are launch-era feature descriptions; confirm the equipment and specifications of any model currently offered before relying on them.
Size, weight and launch-era price
New Atlas reported the following figures in 2022. They describe the model as reported then and should not be taken as current specifications or a current quote.

For towing decisions, tare weight and ATM are not interchangeable: the reported tare is the trailer’s unladen weight, while ATM is its maximum permitted loaded mass. The difference between those figures is not a guaranteed usable payload; actual payload depends on the trailer’s fitted equipment and configuration. Check the compliance plate and current manufacturer documentation, and ensure the tow vehicle and hitch are rated for the loaded combination.
What the off-road description does—and does not—establish
The 2022 feature lists a galvanized chassis, independent suspension, dual gas shocks per wheel and all-terrain tyres. These are equipment descriptions, not independent test results showing how the Space X Air performs on difficult terrain. The automated setup is also distinct from off-road capability: it simplifies deployment, but does not by itself establish suitability for a particular route, load or towing vehicle.

Availability and what to verify before buying
RV.com reported on April 15, 2022 that the camper was available only in Australia at that time and questioned international availability. That historical report does not establish where the Space X Air—or any successor—is sold today. The cited product coverage is from 2022, and no current price or sales territory is established here.
