Malwarebytes Scam Link Check is a free web tool for checking a suspicious URL before you visit it. Malwarebytes says it checks for malicious sites, phishing pages, newly registered domains, and redirect chains, then returns a safe, dangerous, or unknown verdict with an explanation and suggested next steps. Treat that verdict as guidance—not proof that a site is harmless.
What Malwarebytes Scam Link Check checks
Announced on October 5, 2026, Scam Link Check lets you paste or type a URL into a web page without downloading software, paying, or signing in, according to Malwarebytes’ launch announcement. The company says the tool uses its threat-intelligence ecosystem to look for malicious websites, phishing pages, newly registered domains, and redirect chains.
Malwarebytes describes three possible results: safe, dangerous, or unknown. The result may include plain-language reasons, a screenshot of the site, and recommended next steps. An unknown result is not the same as a safe one: it means the tool has not given you a clear safe-or-dangerous answer.
How to check a suspicious link without opening it
- Copy the link address without visiting it. On a computer, use the link’s context menu and choose the option to copy its address. On a phone, press and hold the link to preview or copy it, as Malwarebytes advises in its FAQ.
- Open the Malwarebytes Scam Link Check web tool and paste or type the URL into its checker.
- Review the verdict and explanation before deciding what to do. If the result is dangerous, do not visit the site. If it is unknown—or even safe—consider whether you trust the person or organization that sent the link.
- Use the tool’s report option if you want to report the link, as described in the launch announcement.
Shortened links deserve particular caution: the visible text may not reveal the destination. Check the copied URL rather than tapping through just to see where it leads. If the checker cannot give a clear result, do not treat uncertainty as permission to proceed.

Why a safe result is not a guarantee
A checker’s verdict is a useful signal, not a guarantee that a website is safe. Malwarebytes’ Scam Guard Lite help article cautions users to stay alert regardless of the displayed label and says a comprehensive security assessment would require deeper inspection of website code and network traffic. That warning is stated for Scam Guard Lite; it is relevant context when interpreting a URL-check result, but it does not establish an independent accuracy rate for Scam Link Check.
The available product descriptions are Malwarebytes materials, not an independent detection-accuracy test. Use the result alongside ordinary caution: do not enter passwords or payment details on a page you reached through an unexpected message, and verify important requests through a known official website or contact channel.

What to do if you already opened the link
Close the page and do not enter credentials, payment information, or other sensitive details. If you already submitted a password, change it through the service’s official website or app and secure any accounts that reused it. If you exposed card or bank details, contact the bank using the number on your card or another known official channel. Scam Link Check may offer next steps, and Malwarebytes says its broader Scam Guard assistant can provide further guidance.

Malwarebytes reported that roughly one in five Scam Guard submissions were flagged high-risk, defining high-risk as potentially leading to a loss of at least $1,000 or other personal harm. The company says the figure came from anonymized proprietary systems observed from April 15 through July 14, 2026; it is not a population-wide scam rate or independent validation of Scam Link Check.
