On the Windows product page, the current paid product is called Premium Security for Windows. The names differ by page: the offer describes the trial as Premium, while the Windows page describes the product and its features. Check the offer and checkout terms for your country before installing; Malwarebytes says not all offers are available everywhere.
What is included in the Malwarebytes Windows trial?
The trial gives you access to paid protection features, not just the ability to run occasional cleanup scans. Malwarebytes’ Windows comparison, updated September 8, 2026, identifies these features as paid:
- Threat Scan and Scheduled Scan
- Real-Time Protection and Web Protection
- Malware Protection and Ransomware Protection
- Exploit Protection
The same comparison lists Quick Scan and Custom Scan as available in the free version. It also lists Privacy Controls, Remote Desktop Monitoring, Windows Firewall Control, System Tweaks, Startup Applications, File Shredder, Digital Footprint Scan, and Scam Guard as free Windows features. These are Malwarebytes’ stated feature-availability claims, not independent findings about how well the features detect or block threats.
Malwarebytes says its Browser Guard extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge and comes free with Premium Security. The vendor says it can block ads and third-party cookies and flag suspicious sites. The Windows page also describes Play Mode, real-time threat quarantine (which may be disabled), and exploit and uninstall protection.

Will Malwarebytes charge you after the free trial?
It depends on the terms shown when you enroll. Malwarebytes’ Help Center says, “Some subscription trials require you to provide payment information.” It adds that a subscription bought through its online store has auto-renewal on by default, and that if renewal is on, the stored payment method is charged when the trial or subscription term ends. Trials enrolled without payment information do not incur an end-of-trial charge, according to the same guidance.
The official pages do not establish one payment-card requirement or one post-trial price for every country and enrollment route. Before confirming, read the live checkout screen for whether payment information is required, the renewal price and timing, and whether auto-renewal is enabled. Do not assume that every trial is payment-free or that every trial automatically charges.

How to cancel the Malwarebytes trial on Windows
For a Windows subscription, Malwarebytes directs customers to turn off auto-renewal in their Malwarebytes account before the trial ends. Its Help Center says turning off auto-renewal cancels the subscription; a canceled subscription remains active until its expiry.
- Sign in to your Malwarebytes account using the account associated with the trial.
- Open the subscription or billing management area and turn off auto-renewal for the relevant subscription.
- Check the account for confirmation that renewal is off, and note the subscription expiry date.
Malwarebytes’ instructions are for managing subscriptions; the exact enrollment and cancellation details can vary with the offer or checkout route. If your account does not show the trial, use the support or account details supplied with that enrollment rather than assuming renewal has been stopped.

What happens when the trial ends?
If you cancel renewal, Malwarebytes says the subscription stays active through its expiry. After the paid term expires, the free version remains available for Quick Scan and Custom Scan, but Malwarebytes’ comparison lists real-time, web, malware, ransomware, and exploit protection as paid features. Free mode therefore offers scans and cleanup rather than the same always-on protection described for the trial.
If you leave auto-renewal on, a charge may be made at the end of the trial when payment information is on file; check the enrollment terms and account status rather than relying on a general assumption about trial billing.

Is the Malwarebytes Windows trial right for you?
The trial is useful if you want to evaluate Malwarebytes’ paid, ongoing Windows protections—including real-time and web protection—before deciding whether to keep a subscription. If you only need occasional scans, the listed free Quick Scan and Custom Scan may be sufficient. No physical item or accessory is needed: the offer is a software download and subscription trial.
