Making It Together: STEAM to Manufacturing is a free Vermont workforce-development event scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Generator Makerspace in Burlington. Hosted by the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) and Generator Makerspace, it will bring manufacturers, educators, workforce organizations, public agencies, and other partners together to discuss practical ways to connect people with manufacturing careers and address workforce gaps.
When and where is the event?
The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Generator Makerspace, 40 Sears Lane, Burlington, Vermont. The official listing says admission is free. Check the VMEC event listing for current registration and event details before you go.
Who should attend?
The gathering is intended for people who can contribute to, or benefit from, stronger connections between manufacturing and education or workforce development. That includes Vermont manufacturers, nonprofit and public-sector partners, schools, career seekers, and others interested in manufacturing skills and pathways.
The announced panel contributors represent Husky Technologies, FIRST in Vermont, The Manufacturing Collaborative, the Vermont Department of Labor’s Workforce Development Division, the SBA Vermont District Office, and Spaulding High School. The event page describes the panel as bringing perspectives from manufacturing, nonprofits, state agencies, and schools.

What will happen at the event?
The published program combines discussion with opportunities to make practical connections:
- Registration and networking
- A panel titled “Winning Conditions & Working Models”
- Resource matchmaking
- “Making It Together” People’s Choice Awards
- Additional networking
The organizers invite participants to share challenges, explore solutions, connect, collaborate, and plan. The event page frames that invitation as an opportunity to “Co-create a winning plan with businesses, non-profits, career seekers and other Vermont partners.” The schedule describes planned activities; it does not establish which solutions participants will select or what outcomes will follow.

How are STEAM programs connected to manufacturing jobs?
STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics—can connect to manufacturing through technical learning, problem-solving, and relationships between employers and education or workforce partners. This event is designed to bring those groups together to discuss how programs and connections might help close workforce gaps in Vermont.
That purpose is different from proof that a particular course, partnership, or career pathway works. The announced panel and matchmaking topics create a setting to discuss approaches, but the event listing does not report results such as job placements or measured workforce impact.

How does the event fit into Manufacturing Day?
VMEC describes this as the third annual Advanced Manufacturing Day event. Nationally, Manufacturing Day is an annual opportunity for manufacturers to show what happens in modern factories and introduce manufacturing careers. NIST says the 2026 observance starts Friday, October 2, and continues throughout the month; it reports more than 3,000 events and over 325,000 students, parents, and community members attending across the United States and Puerto Rico. Those are national observance figures, not a forecast or attendance count for the Burlington gathering. See NIST’s Manufacturing Day page for the national context.
VMEC also lists broader manufacturer support and training information on its Training and Events page.
