The computers have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, with support for up to two external displays, and a 12MP Center Stage camera with a Liquid Retina display. Apple claims up to 18 hours of battery life; that figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent test result. See Apple’s March 3, 2026 announcement for its full description and specifications.
Who can choose the Air instead of paying more for a Pro?
The Air is a reasonable place to start if your priority is a lower purchase price and your work fits the configuration you are considering. Apple describes it as suited to tasks ranging from creative projects to complex AI work. That does not establish that it performs like a MacBook Pro under sustained heavy workloads: the available coverage and manufacturer announcement do not provide a controlled, like-for-like benchmark against a specific M5 Pro configuration.
