Yes: M5Stack’s current store listing for a Wi-Fi-and-PoE ESP32 camera is the PoE Camera with Wi-Fi (OV3660), which it specifies with a 3MP sensor and a 66.5° field of view. It combines an ESP32 and W5500 Ethernet controller, with Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet connectivity. M5Stack also documents an older OV2640 Wi-Fi PoE variant, so check the sensor name before applying specifications: its documented camera is 2MP, not 3MP.

What the current M5Stack Wi-Fi PoE camera offers

M5Stack’s store lists the PoE Camera with Wi-Fi (OV3660). Its published summary identifies an OV3660 3MP sensor, 66.5° field of view, ESP32 plus W5500, Wi-Fi and PoE connectivity, and maximum power consumption of 6 W. Those are the specifications published for the OV3660 listing; the more detailed electrical and board specifications on M5Stack’s documentation pages describe OV2640 variants and should not automatically be carried over to this revision.

The design offers two network paths: Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet through the W5500. PoE means the wired Ethernet connection can also supply power when connected to compatible PoE equipment. M5Stack documents IEEE 802.3af support, 37–57 V supply and 6 W maximum for its documented PoE CAM, and the OV3660 store listing separately gives a 6 W maximum. Confirm the exact camera revision’s power requirements before installation.

OV3660 and OV2640: identify the revision first

The OV3660 is the current Wi-Fi-and-PoE store listing located for this camera family. M5Stack documentation also describes the PoE CAM-W with OV2640; another Unit PoE CAM documentation page supplies detailed board and electrical information for an OV2640 camera. These are distinct published variants, not interchangeable specification sheets.

PoE Camera with Wi-Fi (OV3660), M5Stack Store listing OV3660, 3MP; 66.5° field of view ESP32 and W5500; Wi-Fi and PoE; maximum power consumption 6 W. Detailed voltage range and board specifications are not stated in this store summary.
PoE CAM-W, M5Stack documentation OV2640, 2MP; 65° field of view ESP32-D0WDQ6-V3; W5500 Ethernet; 16 MB flash; 8 MB PSRAM; RJ45; IEEE 802.3af PoE, 37–57 V supply, 6 W maximum.
Unit PoE CAM, M5Stack documentation OV2640, 2MP; 65° diagonal field of view ESP32-D0WDQ6-V3 at 240 MHz; W5500 with 32 KB buffer; 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; IEEE 802.3af, 37–57 V and 6 W maximum. Listed protocols include TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP and PPPoE.

The OV2640 Wi-Fi PoE listing is marked end-of-life by M5Stack, so it is mainly relevant when identifying older hardware or comparing documentation. The separate ESP32-CAM is also not the same product: it is an OV2640 Wi-Fi camera with 4 MB flash, and its cited product documentation does not make it the PoE camera. Megapixel counts and field-of-view figures alone do not establish which module produces better images.

What you need to install it

For wired operation with power over Ethernet, use a PoE-capable switch or injector that matches the camera revision’s supported standard and electrical requirements. M5Stack documents IEEE 802.3af for its PoE CAM variants; its cited listings do not establish that a PoE switch or injector is included in the package. If using Wi-Fi, the camera still needs a suitable power arrangement, so check the documentation for the exact revision rather than assuming the PoE electrical details apply to every model.

Heat and intended uses

M5Stack identifies warehouse monitoring, timed photography, machine vision and home smart monitoring as possible applications. These are manufacturer-stated use cases, not independent performance validation or a guarantee that the module meets a particular imaging, reliability or environmental requirement.

M5Stack warns that prolonged capture of high-resolution image streams can overheat the camera and cause abnormal image colors, and recommends additional cooling for prolonged operation. Plan for thermal management if the camera will capture continuously or run in an enclosure; the cited material does not establish independent temperature or reliability test results.

Before choosing a variant

  • Read the sensor marking or exact product name: OV3660 identifies the 3MP store listing; OV2640 identifies the 2MP documentation variants.
  • For wired power, verify that the network equipment and the exact camera revision agree on PoE standard and voltage requirements.
  • Check whether Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet better suits the installation and whether suitable PoE equipment is already available.
  • For sustained high-resolution capture, account for the manufacturer’s cooling warning.
