In early October 2024, two Russian YouTube channels posted videos of what they presented as retail 14-inch MacBook Pro units with Apple’s unannounced M4 chip. The videos made the leak more credible, but they did not establish who supplied the laptops or prove that every unit offered privately was genuine. Apple later confirmed the M4 MacBook Pro on October 30, 2024.
How did YouTubers get the M4 MacBook Pro before launch?
The supplier was not identified in the reporting, and the videos did not establish a verified chain of custody. In early October 2024, Russian creator Wylsacom posted an alleged unboxing of a 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro. MacRumors reported that the video showed a finished-looking retail box and connected it to an earlier photo of packaging circulated in a private Facebook sale. Another Russian channel, Romancev768, posted a second alleged unit shortly afterward.
Seeing two videos, alongside the earlier packaging photo, increased the leak’s credibility compared with a single unboxing. It still did not prove how the laptops left the supply chain or who provided them. Contemporary coverage treated the product as unannounced and the units as alleged, not as authenticated Apple disclosures.

The specific units were not definitively authenticated in the reporting available before Apple’s announcement. The distinction is important: Apple’s October 30, 2024 announcement confirmed that the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 was a real product, but it did not, by itself, confirm the origin or authenticity of the laptops shown in the earlier videos.
