Fitbit Air is the better fit if you want a lower reported purchase price and a lighter, more compact band; Luna Band may suit you better if you value longer advertised battery life, broader haptic prompts, and included personalized AI insights. Tom’s Guide reported prices of $99 for Fitbit Air and $149 for Luna Band on September 20, 2026. Both offer basic functionality without a required subscription, but some advanced Fitbit features require a paid plan. These are reported prices, not guaranteed current listings.
1. Price: Fitbit Air costs less upfront in the reported listings
Tom’s Guide’s September 20, 2026 comparison listed Fitbit Air at $99 and Luna Band at $149. Tech Advisor’s September 28, 2026 hands-on review gave prices of £84/$99 for Fitbit Air and £129/$149 for Luna Band. Those are source-reported prices for the stated dates and markets; check current retailer or official-store listings before buying.
The difference is $50 in the US prices reported by both publications. Whether that gap is worthwhile depends in part on the subscription trade-off and which features you expect to use.
2. Subscriptions: neither requires one for basic use
According to the cited comparisons, both trackers provide basic functionality without a required subscription. Fitbit’s more advanced features are tied in part to Google Health Premium, a paid service. Luna is presented as including its features—including personalized AI insights—without a subscription.

So compare the features you actually want, not just the device price: the reported Fitbit Air price is lower, but using paid advanced features could add recurring cost. The sources do not establish a complete feature-by-feature accounting of what is included in each plan.
3. Battery: Luna’s rating is longer, but treat both figures as claims
Tom’s Guide reports battery life of up to 7 days for Fitbit Air and up to 10 days for Luna Band. The comparison’s author said he had not personally verified Luna’s 10-day claim. Tech Advisor’s later hands-on review also reported up to 10 days for Luna, but that is still a stated maximum rather than a controlled, head-to-head endurance test.

Actual runtime can vary with use and settings; the cited reporting does not provide a matched test under identical conditions. If charging less often matters to you, Luna has the longer reported rating, not a proven three-day advantage in everyday use.
4. Size and weight: Fitbit Air is reported as lighter and more compact
Tom’s Guide gives approximate weights of 14 g for Fitbit Air and 26 g for Luna Band. Tech Advisor reports Luna at 24 g, so the sources do not agree on Luna’s exact weight. The defensible takeaway is that the comparison describes Fitbit Air as lighter and smaller, rather than treating either Luna figure as definitive.

Tom’s Guide fitness and wearables writer Dan Bracaglia described Fitbit Air as “by far the lightest and most comfortable.” That is his reviewer judgment, not a controlled comfort test; fit and comfort can vary by wearer.
5. Haptics: Luna offers more kinds of prompts
Tom’s Guide highlights Fitbit Air’s vibration for its Smart Alarm. Its comparison says Luna Band supports notifications, alerts, alarms, and stand-or-move nudges. If you want reminders throughout the day as well as an alarm, Luna’s reported haptic options are broader; if you mainly want a vibrating wake-up alarm, the cited comparison does not establish that you need the extra prompts.

Software and tracking availability to consider
Tom’s Guide says Fitbit Air tracks sleep, workouts, and stress. Tech Advisor’s Luna review reports heart-rate, movement, skin-temperature, and SpO2 sensors, plus Apple Health and Google Fit compatibility. However, the review found some Luna app functions marked “coming soon,” and SpO2 data was not visible during its test period. Sensor presence should not be taken as proof that every metric was available or independently validated.
Tech Advisor’s review also notes that Luna uses a proprietary charger and reports scuffing on its buckle. Those observations may matter if you prioritize accessories or finish, but they do not establish long-term durability. The cited sources do not provide a clinical validation or controlled accuracy study for either tracker.
