YouTube does not publish a typical RPM or verified earnings benchmark for 24/7 lofi streams, and the public channel-income estimates reviewed for this article lack supporting analytics or financial disclosures. To estimate revenue responsibly, use the channel’s own YouTube Analytics data, keep the reporting period and scope consistent, and check eligibility, ad delivery, and music rights.
RPM is useful for understanding revenue reported by YouTube, but it is not an ad-only rate or a measure of a whole music business. Here is what the available evidence does—and does not—show.
What RPM means
YouTube defines RPM as creator revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube’s revenue share. Depending on the channel and eligible features, it can include ads, YouTube Premium, channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Because it includes views that were not monetized, RPM is not the same as CPM, which reflects advertiser costs for ad impressions.
RPM also does not represent all income from a lofi business. It excludes merchandise sales, most sponsorships and brand deals, and indirect income such as services. YouTube Analytics distinguishes estimated net revenue from gross advertising revenue; estimated amounts may be adjusted at month end.

For a channel’s own data, the basic calculation is approximately (views ÷ 1,000) × that channel’s RPM. Use views and RPM from the same reporting period and scope, and identify the currency. This is a way to interpret a channel’s analytics—not evidence of a standard lofi rate.
What public earnings claims show
The research reviewed public articles claiming specific earnings for Lofi Girl and other lofi channels, but those articles did not show creator dashboards, named financial disclosures, or a documented calculation grounded in verified creator data. The available evidence therefore does not establish what Lofi Girl or a typical 24/7 lofi stream earns.
Do not multiply public view counts by a guessed RPM and present the result as actual income. A meaningful comparison needs comparable reporting periods and currencies, revenue measures, stream or replay scope, audience and monetization details, and information about music ownership or licensing. If those details are not disclosed, the comparison is not like-for-like.

What can affect revenue
YouTube says CPM can fluctuate with seasonality, viewer geography, and the distribution of ad formats. For live streams, YouTube also says, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Automatic, scheduled, and manual mid-roll choices can create ad opportunities, but they do not guarantee that an ad will be served to a viewer.
YouTube reported that channels using automatic live mid-roll ads saw an average uplift of over 20% in instream ad revenue per hour compared with channels that did not use the feature. This January 2024 platform-wide comparison covered 207 countries; it is not a lofi-specific result or a forecast for an individual channel.
Audience mix, ad delivery, channel policy status, and rights claims can all matter when interpreting a channel’s results. Treat claims about a particular factor increasing RPM as hypotheses unless they are supported by that channel’s own comparable analytics.

Eligibility and live-stream monetization
As of the research check on October 4, 2026, YouTube’s ad-revenue path for the YouTube Partner Program requires 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form video in the prior 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the prior 90 days. Other requirements apply, and meeting the thresholds does not automatically approve a channel. YouTube reviews channels for eligibility and policy compliance.
For the 4,000-hour threshold, livestream watch hours do not count if the stream is unlisted, deleted, or not converted to a video on demand (VOD). Eligible partners can monetize long-form or live-stream Watch Page views through ads and YouTube Premium after accepting the Watch Page Monetization Module. Fan-funding features have separate eligibility and terms. An ad appearing on a channel’s content does not by itself prove that the channel is eligible to share revenue.
Music rights are essential
A stream being live around the clock, or a track being available to hear online, does not grant permission to rebroadcast or monetize it. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the necessary rights for both live content and archived content, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights holders. Creators also confirm they have the necessary rights to audio and visual elements when enabling ads.

Lofi Girl’s Content ID notice says its music is no longer free to use in newly published videos under a policy effective May 20, 2026. Only videos published before that date are eligible for manual whitelist review and possible claim release; a request does not guarantee release. Check current terms and the specific license scope before using any catalog.
YouTube’s Creator Music help page says revenue-sharing tracks cannot be used in live streams. Do not assume Creator Music supplies a license for a 24/7 lofi broadcast.
How to estimate your own YouTube revenue
- Open YouTube Analytics and choose the reporting period you want to assess.
- Use your channel’s own RPM and views for the same period and scope, such as channel-wide or a particular live stream and its replay.
- Calculate an approximate RPM-derived amount as (views ÷ 1,000) × RPM. Treat it as an interpretation of your Analytics data, not as a guaranteed payout or a measure of all business income.
- Check monetization status, applicable revenue sources, currency, and any month-end adjustments before comparing periods or channels.
- Review music and visual rights for both the broadcast and its archive, including any claims or revenue shares that may affect the result.

How much revenue does the Lofi Girl channel generate?
The research reviewed for this article found no verifiable public financial disclosure or creator dashboard establishing Lofi Girl’s revenue. Public estimates should be treated as unverified, not as confirmed earnings.

What is a typical RPM for a 24/7 lofi stream?
YouTube does not publish a lofi-specific typical RPM, and the reviewed public estimates do not establish a reliable benchmark. Use the channel’s own Analytics RPM rather than a niche-wide guess.
Does an ad on a live stream mean the channel earns from it?
No. YouTube may show ads on content from channels that are not eligible to share ad revenue. Ad slots are also not guaranteed to serve an ad.
Do livestream watch hours count toward YouTube Partner Program eligibility?
They can count toward the qualified public watch-hour path if the stream remains public and is converted to a VOD. Watch hours from streams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD do not count toward the 4,000-hour threshold.
Can I use music I found online in a monetized lofi stream?
Not without the necessary rights for the live broadcast and any archived version. Confirm that the permission covers your intended use, monetization, and stream archive; online availability alone is not a license.

Can Creator Music tracks be used in a 24/7 live stream?
YouTube’s Creator Music guidance says its revenue-sharing tracks cannot be used in live streams. Do not treat Creator Music as an automatic license for a lofi broadcast.
The defensible answer on lofi stream revenue is that there is no verified public standard RPM or representative earnings figure. Measure performance with your own Analytics, compare equivalent reporting scopes, and confirm eligibility and music rights before treating revenue estimates as meaningful.
