The LG V60 ThinQ 5G paired 2020 flagship-era hardware with an unusual option: a detachable second screen built into a cover-style accessory. Its Snapdragon 865 platform, 5,000mAh battery, expandable storage and capable-looking camera specifications made it a high-end proposition on paper. The trade-offs were a large FHD+ display rather than QHD and the extra bulk and carrying hassle of the Dual Screen. The specifications establish what LG offered at launch, not how the phone performed in independent testing.

What the LG V60 ThinQ 5G was

LG introduced the V60 ThinQ 5G in February 2020 as a large-screen Android 10 phone with 5G connectivity and an optional Dual Screen accessory. LG positioned the combination for creating, consuming and sharing content; that was the company’s marketing, not an independent verdict. LG’s launch announcement is the source for the launch-era platform and headline specifications.

“Almost flagship” fits the spec-sheet story better than an unqualified flagship label: LG listed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 with X55 modem, 8GB RAM, and a large battery, but the main display was FHD+ rather than QHD. The manufacturer materials do not establish refresh rate, real-world speed, battery endurance, or how smoothly the phone handled games.

Display: large and sharp enough, but not QHD

The phone’s main panel was a 6.8-inch P-OLED display with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, 2,460 × 1,080 resolution and 395 pixels per inch. That is FHD+, so the V60 favored screen size and a tall viewing area over the higher pixel count of a QHD panel. LG did not state a refresh rate in the cited materials, so there is no basis here for a refresh-rate comparison.

Dual Screen: a second panel with an accessory trade-off

LG’s detachable Dual Screen added another 6.8-inch display at the same stated resolution, plus a 2.1-inch monochrome cover display. The accessory connected through a USB Type-C contact and used a 360-degree freestop hinge. LG promoted it for multitasking, productivity, gaming and entertainment. Its practical distinction is straightforward: two-screen use required carrying a case-like accessory as well as the phone, rather than unfolding a single flexible display.

The LG US T-Mobile specification sheet lists a charging adapter with the detachable screen. That is a listed bundle detail for that sheet, not proof that every regional package or used listing includes one. LG’s V60 T-Mobile specification sheet provides those accessory details.

Performance, storage and battery on paper

The V60 launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and X55 5G modem, 8GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery. LG listed 128GB or 256GB of internal storage depending on market or operator, plus microSD expansion. These specifications suggest a well-equipped 2020 device, but they do not establish current network availability, present-day performance, or battery condition in an individual used phone.

Cameras and video: capabilities, not image-quality results

LG specified a 64MP standard rear camera that pixel-binned to 16MP, a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 117-degree field of view, a ToF sensor and a 10MP front camera. The company also listed 8K video recording, four microphones and Voice Bokeh. These are advertised capabilities; the cited manufacturer sources do not include independent photo samples, video comparisons, or tests of microphone quality. A megapixel count or recording resolution alone cannot establish how good the output looks.

Audio, durability and other hardware claims

  • Wired audio: LG listed a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, a feature that may matter to listeners using compatible wired audio equipment. The cited materials do not provide an independent listening test.
  • Speakers and microphones: Stereo speakers and four microphones were listed by LG; those specifications are not a measured assessment of loudness, clarity or call quality.
  • Water and dust resistance: LG listed an IP68 rating. Its support sheet describes testing up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes under controlled laboratory conditions. That rating is not a guarantee against damage from immersion, wear or mishandling.
  • Durability compliance: LG also listed MIL-STD 810G compliance. Treat this as a manufacturer-listed compliance claim, not assurance that a particular handset is damage-proof.

What to check if considering one now

The V60 is a 2020 phone, and the exact variant matters more than the family name when evaluating a particular device. LG USA described a distinct Verizon V60 UW variant and said launch availability and pricing varied by carrier. That historical distinction does not establish whether a specific handset will work on a particular network today. Confirm compatibility directly with the intended carrier before buying.

  • Check the exact model and carrier variant, then confirm supported network service with your carrier.
  • Ask whether the listing includes the Dual Screen and its charging adapter; included accessories can vary.
  • Check the phone’s condition and battery health rather than assuming its original capacity remains available.
  • Verify software and security-support status from authoritative current carrier or LG information; the launch materials only establish Android 10 at release.

The available manufacturer documentation gives no current prices, stock, seller reliability, or present-day support status. It therefore cannot support a current-value verdict.

Verdict

The LG V60 ThinQ 5G was an ambitious 2020 handset: it combined a high-end launch platform, expandable storage, substantial stated battery capacity, advanced audio specifications and a genuinely distinctive detachable second display. Its main-screen resolution was FHD+, and the two-screen arrangement depended on carrying a bulky case-like accessory. For a historical review, it is best understood as a near-flagship phone whose signature feature was an optional second panel—not as a proven performance or camera champion. Today, a buyer’s decision depends on the exact variant, condition, included accessory and verified network and software status.
