If keeping your laptop light is your top priority, the newly announced Lenovo ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 deserves a place on your shortlist: Lenovo lists a starting weight of 990 g and a 14-inch display. Whether it is right for you depends on the exact regional configuration—and on how it compares with alternatives for screen, battery life, ports, price, and support. Lenovo announced the Gen 2 on September 3, 2026, with expected European availability starting that month and an expected starting price of €1,079; those are not confirmed live prices or universal market terms.
What does the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 offer?
Lenovo’s published specifications describe a compact 14-inch laptop with several choices that can materially change the experience. Treat these as manufacturer-listed details, not independent test results, and check the exact model number and local configuration before buying.
- Size and weight: Lenovo lists dimensions of 312 × 217 mm, thickness of 12.9–15.6 mm, and a starting weight of 990 g (2.18 lb). The starting weight may not describe every configuration.
- Display: Options include a 14-inch 16:10 2.8K OLED panel rated at 120 Hz, 100% DCI-P3, and 500 nits, or a 14-inch WUXGA LCD rated at 120 Hz, 100% sRGB, and 400 nits, with optional touch. Confirm which panel is included in the SKU you are considering.
- Processor and memory: Lenovo lists an Intel Core 7 Series 3 processor and up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s; the announcement lists a 25 W TDP.
- Storage: Listed capacity goes up to 2 TB, subject to Lenovo’s design-reserve qualification.
- Battery: Lenovo lists 54.7 Wh and 65 Wh options. Capacity alone does not establish how long the laptop lasts away from an outlet.
- Ports and wireless: The listed connections are two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one Always On), HDMI 2.1 TMDS, and an audio jack. Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 depends on configuration.
- Other features: Lenovo lists Windows 11, an FHD IR camera, a glass touchpad, and Dolby Atmos speakers.
These specifications are from Lenovo’s September 3, 2026 product announcement. They do not establish real-world speed, thermals, battery runtime, keyboard quality, or reliability.
How should you compare it with other lightweight laptops?
The title asks which laptop is right for you, but the available official specifications do not provide a same-date, exact-SKU comparison with named competitors. A blanket ranking against ThinkPad, Yoga, Zenbook, XPS, or other models would therefore be misleading. Compare the specific configurations you can actually buy in your market using these criteria:

Who is the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 likely to suit?
On its published specifications, the Gen 2 is worth considering if a low listed carry weight and a 14-inch screen are central to your choice. Its OLED option may appeal if you want the listed wider color coverage and higher resolution; the WUXGA LCD option offers a different display specification and optional touch. Check the SKU rather than assuming every 14x has the OLED panel, the same wireless standard, or the same battery.
If your decision depends on long unplugged work sessions, sustained performance, keyboard feel, repairability, or business support, these published specifications do not settle the question. Seek comparable independent tests or confirmed service and configuration details before choosing.

Which generation and model should you check?
Make sure a listing is for the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2. Lenovo also maintains PSREF pages for a ThinkBook 14x ILL family and regional model numbers; specifications for those products should not be treated as Gen 2 specifications. Use Lenovo’s PSREF product specifications to identify a model, and compare it with the configuration named by the retailer. A generation label and model number help prevent mixing details from different devices.
Lenovo’s announcement gives an expected European starting price of €1,079 and expected availability beginning in September 2026. Actual stock, price, warranty, and bundled options may differ by country and retailer, so confirm them locally before purchase.

- Set your priority. Decide whether the leading need is the lightest complete carry setup, display quality, unplugged runtime, ports, price, repairability, or business support.
- Identify exact SKUs. Record the generation, model number, display, memory, storage, battery option, wireless standard, and included power adapter for each laptop under consideration.
- Compare like with like. Use independent battery and performance tests only when their workloads and conditions are comparable; keep manufacturer capacity and measured runtime separate.
- Check the local purchase terms. Confirm availability, final price, warranty, and service arrangements for your region.
