Some Lenovo Smart Clock Essential owners say the missing weather display has returned, but reports published October 2, 2026 do not show that every affected clock is fixed. The reports concern the Essential’s on-screen weather icon and outdoor temperature; voice forecasts reportedly continued to work during the interruption.
What happened to the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential weather display?
In September 2026, owners reported that the weather icon and outdoor temperature had disappeared from some Lenovo Smart Clock Essential displays while the time remained visible. Android Authority reported that the problem was being described in multiple countries, but no reliable count of affected devices was available. Android Authority’s September 14 report said voice forecasts reportedly still worked, suggesting the issue involved the glanceable display rather than all weather functionality.
On October 2, Android Authority reported that some owners had seen the weather return within the preceding day. A contemporaneous Reddit post also described a return, while a commenter said weather was still missing on their clock. These are owner reports, not confirmation of a complete restoration. The Reddit discussion illustrates the uneven reports.
Is Lenovo’s weather service fixed for everyone?
That has not been established. The reports describe weather returning to some devices, but do not establish that all affected units or regions have recovered. Android Authority said it had contacted Lenovo before its follow-up and had not received confirmation of the cause or a planned fix. A backend issue or a connection to changes involving Google Home or Gemini remains speculation, not a confirmed explanation.

There is no published figure in the reporting for how many clocks lost weather or how many have regained it. Social-media comments cannot establish the overall share of affected or recovered devices.
Which Lenovo clocks are involved?
The current reports specifically concern the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. Lenovo’s support portal lists the standard Essential as model CD-4N341Y and the Smart Clock Essential with Alexa Built-in as CD-4N342Y. That listing does not show that both variants were affected or have recovered. Lenovo’s support portal lists software versions 1.52.2.0.1 for CD-4N341Y and v060 for CD-4N342Y; its source-code posting dates are October 12, 2021 and January 5, 2022, respectively. Those portal entries do not establish that either version restores weather.

Do not assume the reports apply to every Lenovo Smart Clock. The Smart Clock 2, for example, is a separate touchscreen model that Lenovo says can show time, weather, and photos. The Essential has a simpler display, and the available reporting does not connect the Smart Clock 2 to this incident. Lenovo’s Smart Clock 2 product page describes that model.
What to do if weather is still missing
Check the display and voice forecast separately
If your clock still shows the time but not the weather icon or outdoor temperature, try asking it for a forecast. Owners reportedly retained voice forecasts during the display problem, so a working spoken forecast does not necessarily mean the glanceable display has been restored.

- Open the Google Home app and select the affected Smart Clock Essential.
- Open the device’s settings, then use the overflow menu to submit feedback about the missing weather display.
This was the suggested reporting route in Android Authority’s September coverage. The available reports do not establish a dependable local fix: owners described mixed results after rebooting, factory resetting, changing settings, or removing and re-adding the clock. A reset should not be treated as a proven remedy.

Buying another Essential is not an established technical fix. The reports do not show that a new unit would avoid a recurrence if the behavior is service-side. If you choose to replace a clock that remains affected, verify the exact model and current retailer availability; replacement is a purchasing choice, not a confirmed solution to the weather issue.
