The “i” in IdeaPad Slim 3i is a useful clue that a configuration uses an Intel processor, while “IdeaPad Slim 3” is often used for AMD configurations in some generations and markets. But the names do not guarantee a particular processor, screen, memory, or other specification. Compare the generation, machine type, screen size, and full SKU—not just the family names.
What does the “i” mean?
Lenovo uses IdeaPad Slim 3i for Intel configurations, making “i” a helpful first clue. It is not a complete specification or a guarantee that every similarly named Slim 3 model is AMD. Available models and configurations vary by generation and country. For example, Lenovo’s current US pages identify the Slim 3i as an Intel product family, while a Lenovo Malaysia brochure lists an AMD-powered Slim 3 alongside an Intel-powered Slim 3i. How do the specifications differ?
There is no single specification sheet that applies to every Slim 3 and Slim 3i. The following Lenovo examples show how much configurations can vary; neither example establishes a family-wide rule.
One Malaysia Gen 8 comparison
In Lenovo Malaysia’s 2026 brochure, one 15.6-inch Slim 3i configuration has an Intel Processor N100, 8 GB soldered LPDDR5-4800, a 512 GB SSD, and a Full HD TN display rated at 250 nits. The listed 15.6-inch Slim 3 has an AMD Ryzen 3 7320U, 8 GB soldered LPDDR5-5500, a 512 GB SSD, and a Full HD IPS display rated at 300 nits. Gen 10 Slim 3i options
Lenovo’s Gen 10 Intel datasheet lists Core 7 240H, Core 5 210H, Core 3 100U, and selected prior Core processors across the family. Listed memory options are 8 GB or 16 GB DDR5; SSD options are 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB M.2 2242 Gen 4, with support for a second 2242 SSD in listed configurations. Which differences matter most when buying?
Display
Check panel technology, resolution, brightness, refresh rate, color coverage, touch support, and aspect ratio on the exact listing. For instance, Lenovo’s Gen 10 15-inch Slim 3i options include a 15.1-inch 2560 × 1600 OLED panel rated at 500 nits and 165 Hz, as well as 15.3-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS options rated at 300 nits and 60 Hz, including an on-cell touch option. Memory and storage
Confirm the installed memory capacity, memory type, and whether RAM is soldered or upgradeable. Lenovo’s PSREF page for one India-market Slim 3 14IRU8, model 82X60079IN, specifies 8 GB soldered LPDDR5-4800 with no upgrade slot, alongside a 512 GB SSD. For storage, check the SSD capacity and interface, and whether the exact configuration supports another drive. Family-level support does not guarantee a second slot in every laptop.

The Gen 10 Slim 3i datasheet lists 50 Wh and 60 Wh battery options. It also describes Rapid Charge Boost as “15 minutes @ 2 Hours”; Lenovo says actual battery life varies with configuration and use, so this charging claim is not a promise of a particular runtime. Ports, wireless, and local terms
Compare the ports, wireless generation, and charging support listed for the exact model. Also check the local price, warranty, return terms, and included software for your country; regional availability and terms can differ. The name alone cannot establish which is better. Intel-versus-AMD branding is not a performance comparison, and the available evidence does not provide independent benchmark results for a matched pair. A fair decision requires two specific listings with comparable generations, screen sizes, and price tiers.

- Verify the processor, display, memory, storage, battery, and ports against the seller’s listing.
- Confirm that the listed configuration, warranty, and return terms apply in your country before ordering.
