What makes each set different?
PlayStation: a compact console replica with interactive details
The PlayStation set focuses on the original console and its first controller. Its controller plugs into the console, while the Open and Power buttons function. Hidden buildable scenes draw on Gran Turismo, released in 1997, and Ape Escape, released in 1999. That combination makes it the more direct choice for someone whose nostalgia centers on the original PlayStation and its games.
Atari: more room for game and era-themed details
The Atari build includes a joystick, a holder, and cartridges for Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede. Its three game-inspired builds and concealed 1980s room vignette add several display elements beyond the console itself. The Atari set has more pieces, but that alone does not establish that it is more difficult, better value, or better suited to a particular builder.

Which set fits your display space?
LEGO lists the PlayStation at over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep; the Atari console is over 8 cm high, 33 cm wide, and 22 cm deep. On those published console measurements, the PlayStation is smaller. Allow additional room for whichever set’s separate controller, joystick, cartridges, or scene elements you want to display alongside the console; LEGO’s listed console dimensions do not specify a full display footprint for every arrangement.
Price and availability: check the listing before you buy
PlayStation: release date is October 4, 2026
LEGO’s US product page lists PlayStation 72306 at $179.99 and gives general availability beginning October 4, 2026. Because that date is current as of October 4, 2026, verify that ordering is open and check current stock before purchasing. The listed manufacturer price is not a guarantee of a retailer’s price or availability.
Atari: LEGO marks it retired
LEGO’s US Atari page labels 10306 a “Retired Product” and displays $239.99. LEGO’s 2022 US launch announcement gives $239.99 as the original recommended retail price. Neither the retired-product label nor the displayed amount establishes current retailer stock or a resale price. If buying from a third-party seller, check the seller, set condition, completeness, and asking price; compare the offer with other current listings rather than treating LEGO’s displayed amount as today’s market price.

How to choose between them
- Pick PlayStation 72306 if the original PlayStation is your preferred era, you want the plug-in controller and functional buttons, or the smaller published console dimensions suit your display.
- Pick Atari 2600 10306 if you prefer the 1980s console, want cartridges and several game-inspired scenes, or value the hidden room vignette as part of the display.
- For a gift, identify whether the recipient is more attached to 1980s Atari or 1990s PlayStation. Piece count does not reliably indicate which set they will enjoy more.
- For either set, compare the complete contents and seller terms before buying, especially when considering a retired set.
