The headline amount is a cap—not a guaranteed payment—and eligibility depends on the affected asset, demonstrated impact, and program rules.
What is the LayerZero $15M bug bounty?
It is a vulnerability-disclosure program for LayerZero, operated with bug-bounty platform Immunefi. At launch, the companies described it as the world’s largest bug bounty. Immunefi’s program page currently lists a maximum reward of $15,000,000, and its official documentation describes the highest tier as a critical smart-contract bounty tied to impact and value at risk, subject to a 10% rule and a hard cap. The maximum applies to qualifying findings; it does not mean every critical report receives $15 million. See Immunefi’s LayerZero program details.
When it launched, LayerZero said the protocol connected more than 30 blockchains and had processed over 10 million messages since March 2022. The company also cited a $3 billion valuation. Immunefi figures quoted in LayerZero’s May 17, 2023 announcement included more than $60 billion in user funds protected and more than $75 million in rewards facilitated. Is the $15M bounty still active?
The Immunefi listing still displays a $15,000,000 maximum bounty, so the offer remains listed there. The listing also indicates that proof of concept (PoC) and KYC are required and arbitration is enabled. Check the live program page before reporting, since scope and rules may change; the listing is the authoritative place to confirm current requirements. Check the current program listing.

How do I submit a LayerZero bug?
- Confirm the target is eligible. Check the assets and components included in the current Immunefi scope. A vulnerability in an unlisted asset may not qualify, even if it appears related to LayerZero.
- Reproduce the vulnerability safely. Prepare a runnable proof of concept that demonstrates the effect on an in-scope asset. The program generally does not accept an explanation alone; a report should show the end effect, not merely describe a possible issue.
- Submit through Immunefi. Use the LayerZero program’s submission route and include clear reproduction steps, the affected in-scope component, and the impact. Follow the current program rules for handling and disclosure.
- Complete KYC if requested by the program. The listing specifies KYC as a requirement. Do not assume that a report can be paid without completing the stated verification process.
Immunefi’s rules and scope determine whether a report qualifies and how severity and reward are assessed. Avoid testing outside authorized scope or taking actions that could affect users or production systems.
What proof of concept and KYC does LayerZero require?
The program listing marks PoC and KYC as required. In practical terms, submit reproducible evidence that demonstrates an actual end effect on an in-scope asset; a speculative description or unsupported explanation is generally insufficient. The available program information does not establish a universal KYC document checklist, so follow the instructions Immunefi provides during submission rather than relying on an assumed list.

What is the difference between LayerZero V1 and V2 bounties?
The $15 million figure is associated with LayerZero V1, while LayerZero’s V2 deep dive refers to a separate $2.5 million V2 bounty. These are distinct programs and should not be combined into one reward ceiling. Which LayerZero contracts are in scope?
Eligibility is determined by the assets listed on Immunefi’s current scope page, not by whether a contract seems connected to LayerZero. Review the in-scope asset list before testing or reporting.
