Jensen Huang is the largest named individual holder in NVIDIA’s 2026 proxy statement, with 870,604,104 shares, or 3.58%, as of March 23, 2026. Among institutional managers, the answer depends on the filing and date: NVIDIA’s proxy lists BlackRock above Vanguard Capital Management, while manager-reported Form 13F positions for June 30, 2026 also rank BlackRock first. These are different disclosure snapshots, not a real-time register of who ultimately owns every share.
Who are NVIDIA’s largest shareholders in 2026?
The most useful answer separates individual holders from institutional managers and keeps each figure attached to its reporting date and filing type.
| Holder named in disclosure | Shares and percentage | Disclosure and as-of date | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jensen Huang | 870,604,104 shares; 3.58% | NVIDIA 2026 proxy; March 23, 2026 | Beneficial ownership under the proxy’s SEC-rule definition, including certain attributed holdings and awards. |
| BlackRock, Inc. | 1,805,935,550 shares; 7.43% | NVIDIA 2026 proxy; underlying Schedule 13G/A as of December 31, 2023, adjusted for the 2024 stock split | Principal-stockholder figure sourced from an earlier filing, not a March 2026 position. |
| Vanguard Capital Management | 1,777,408,252 shares; 7.31% | NVIDIA 2026 proxy; underlying Schedule 13G as of March 31, 2026 | Principal-stockholder figure based on a later reporting date than BlackRock’s proxy figure. |
| The Vanguard Group | 2,266,625,855 shares; 9.32% | Schedule 13G filed January 30, 2026; December 31, 2025 ownership date | A separate parent-company filing; do not treat it as the same reporting entity or date as Vanguard Capital Management. |
| BlackRock | 1,941,918,386 shares | Form 13F compilation; positions dated June 30, 2026 | Manager-reported long U.S. equity position, not a count of ultimate owners. |
| Vanguard Capital Management | 1,540,816,358 shares | Form 13F compilation; positions dated June 30, 2026 | Manager-reported long U.S. equity position, not a count of ultimate owners. |
The proxy’s BlackRock and Vanguard rows are not a clean same-date comparison: BlackRock’s underlying ownership date is December 31, 2023, while Vanguard Capital Management’s is March 31, 2026. For the later common quarter snapshot available here, the June 30, 2026 Form 13F compilation reports more NVDA shares for BlackRock than for Vanguard Capital Management. The compilation is not an ultimate-owner census, and its manager positions should not be added together as though each row represented distinct shareholders.
What does “beneficially owned” mean in NVIDIA’s proxy?
NVIDIA says beneficial ownership is determined under SEC rules and generally includes voting or investment power, as well as common shares subject to PSUs or RSUs scheduled to vest within 60 days of March 23, 2026. The proxy says executive and director information came from those individuals, while principal-stockholder information—apart from the percentages—was based solely on SEC Schedules 13G/A. #1 Best Overall
Huang’s proxy figure is attributed through several vehicles, including the Huang Trust, other trusts, LLCs, and the Huang Foundation. The proxy includes foundation shares for Item 403 reporting because Huang and his wife are foundation board members, while stating that they have no pecuniary interest in those foundation shares. So the figure is a regulatory beneficial-ownership measure, not a claim that Huang personally owns every share outright.
Why do the BlackRock and Vanguard figures differ across filings?
BlackRock’s proxy figure is based on an older report
NVIDIA’s proxy footnote says BlackRock’s 1,805,935,550-share figure came from a January 26, 2024 Schedule 13G/A reporting ownership as of December 31, 2023, and was adjusted for NVIDIA’s June 2024 ten-for-one stock split. It should not be presented as BlackRock’s ownership on the proxy’s March 2026 measurement date. NVIDIA’s proxy includes the underlying filing details.

Vanguard filings name different entities and dates
The Vanguard Group’s Schedule 13G, filed January 30, 2026, reported 2,266,625,855 shares (9.32%) as of December 31, 2025. That filing described an internal realignment effective January 12, 2026, after which certain subsidiaries or divisions were expected to report beneficial ownership separately. The later Vanguard Capital Management figure in NVIDIA’s proxy is a separate manager line, based on a March 31, 2026 Schedule 13G. Because the filing entity and measurement date differ, the figures should not be read as a direct before-and-after comparison or as proof that one filing is erroneous. See The Vanguard Group’s Schedule 13G.

The June 30, 2026 comparison comes from a compilation of managers’ Form 13F filings. A 13F reports specified long U.S. equity positions with a delay; it does not show short positions, derivatives, cash, or non-U.S. holdings. It identifies reported positions managed by filing entities, not the final people or clients who bear the economic interest in each share. The same securities may appear in more than one manager’s report, so adding rows can double-count exposure. The compilation ranks reported positions by value and lists BlackRock and Vanguard Capital Management’s share counts for that quarter. View the Q2 2026 Form 13F compilation.

How to read future NVIDIA ownership updates
- Check the filing type. A proxy, Schedule 13G, and Form 13F answer related but different questions; do not treat their figures as interchangeable.
- Record the ownership date. The filing date is not necessarily the date the shares were held. Look for the explicit “as of” date and carry it alongside the number.
- Use the exact reporting entity. “The Vanguard Group” and “Vanguard Capital Management” are not interchangeable labels, particularly following the realignment described in the 2026 filing.
- Interpret the ownership measure. Beneficial ownership can include voting or investment power and certain attributed holdings; a 13F position is a manager-reported long position.
- Check for newer filings. These reports arrive periodically, so neither a proxy nor a quarterly 13F compilation should be described as a real-time shareholder register. NVIDIA’s SEC filings page provides a starting point for subsequent company filings.
