On November 14, 2024, Kyndryl and Microsoft announced a co-developed suite of enterprise cyber-resilience services integrated into Kyndryl Bridge. The offering covers compliance readiness, Microsoft Sentinel SIEM migration, Microsoft Entra identity and access management, and Microsoft Defender extended detection and response (XDR).

What Kyndryl and Microsoft announced

The announcement describes professional and managed-service capabilities for organizations operating across hybrid and multicloud environments. Kyndryl says its security specialists combine Microsoft security technologies with implementation, advisory and operational expertise. The release presents intended capabilities rather than independently verified customer results.

The four service areas

Service area Microsoft technology Primary problem addressed Scope described in the announcement
Compliance and risk readiness Microsoft Purview Assessing and managing compliance risk Hybrid-cloud and multicloud environments; assessments, policy advice and operating-procedure guidance
SIEM migration Microsoft Sentinel Moving existing SIEM deployments and improving security-operations onboarding Migration of existing Sentinel solutions and related security-operations capabilities
Identity and access management Microsoft Entra and Zero Trust principles Authentication, identity governance and controlled access Customer resources, integrations and user access workflows
Extended detection and response Microsoft Defender Threat prevention, detection and response Email, identities, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure and data

Compliance and risk readiness with Purview

Kyndryl says its Purview-based services can automatically assess and manage compliance across multicloud and hybrid-cloud estates. Security experts are described as recommending relevant assessments and advising on policies and operating procedures intended to reduce compliance risk. The announcement does not identify particular regulations, jurisdictions, audit results or measured reductions in risk.

Sentinel SIEM migration

The SIEM service is aimed at organizations moving or modernizing existing Microsoft Sentinel solutions. Kyndryl describes migration support as a way to strengthen security-operations-center capabilities and accelerate onboarding. No migration duration, staffing model or quantified operational improvement is provided, so buyers would need to establish those details for their environment.

Entra identity and access management

The Entra offering applies Zero Trust principles to authentication, identity governance and integrations that secure access to organizational resources. Kyndryl presents simplified authentication and a better user experience as objectives. The release does not publish adoption, sign-in, help-desk or access-review measurements.

Defender-based XDR

The Defender services are described as covering prevention, detection and response across email, identity, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure and data. This is an estate-wide operating scope rather than a single endpoint product. The announcement does not specify which Defender licenses, telemetry sources, response-time commitments or managed-service hours are included.

Kyndryl Bridge and the Microsoft security ecosystem

Kyndryl says all four service areas are integrated into Kyndryl Bridge, which it describes as an AI-powered, open-integration digital business platform. The release also says Kyndryl became a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), an ecosystem of independent software vendors and managed security service providers that integrate with Microsoft Security technology. Membership signals ecosystem participation; it does not by itself define a service-level agreement, certification outcome or customer performance guarantee.

What an enterprise buyer should confirm

The announcement is a capability outline, not a complete statement of commercial terms. Before evaluating the services, an organization should obtain a current proposal covering:

  • Geography and eligibility: countries served, regulatory coverage and whether the service is available to the required Microsoft cloud and tenant configurations.
  • Delivery model: advisory-only work, implementation, ongoing managed detection and response, or a combination.
  • Technical boundaries: supported data sources, existing SIEM migration paths, Entra integrations, Purview assessment scope and Defender workloads.
  • Operating responsibilities: who owns tuning, incident escalation, identity lifecycle changes, policy approvals, evidence collection and remediation.
  • Service measures: onboarding milestones, coverage targets, response commitments and reporting methods.
  • Commercial terms: licensing dependencies, professional-service fees, recurring charges, minimum commitments and regional taxes.
  • Data handling: log retention, telemetry locations, administrator access, privacy controls and cross-border processing.

What the November 2024 release does not establish

The announcement does not publish pricing, country-by-country availability, customer case-study results, quantified migration savings, independently measured detection performance or consumer purchase options. It also does not rank Kyndryl against other security providers. Those facts require a current statement of work, service description and licensing review.

Statements from the companies

Michelle Weston, Kyndryl’s vice president of Security & Resiliency, said the partnership is intended to provide “robust security capabilities” and support customers’ regulatory readiness. Ricardo Davila, senior director at Kyndryl at Microsoft, said combining Microsoft’s security technologies with Kyndryl’s expertise is intended to help businesses protect critical assets and operate with confidence. Both are company statements about the partnership’s aims, not independent measurements of outcomes.
