On June 25, 2005, Make announced KXploit (Direct Loader!) v1.50, a PSP homebrew utility that generated two required folders on one Memory Stick. Make said the method removed the need to swap memory sticks and noted that a Linux version was included. The announcement’s examples were “DOOM-PSP” and “DOOM-PSP%.”

What is KXploit for PSP?

KXploit belongs to the early PSP homebrew scene, particularly the firmware 1.50 era. Homebrew refers to unofficial software made to run on the console. The PSP Developer wiki describes KXploit’s paired-folder naming convention as part of that historical 1.50 environment; it is a community technical reference, not Sony documentation. The “Direct Loader” name in the release heading refers to this period-specific homebrew workflow. It should not be read as a modern exploit or as evidence that the 2005 utility runs on current PSP setups.

What did KXploit v1.50 change?

Make’s release announcement described a workflow change: instead of swapping memory sticks, users could have KXploit create both folders on a single stick. The post gave “DOOM-PSP” and “DOOM-PSP%” as example directory names. This is the release page’s claim, not an independently documented test result. Make: KXploit (Direct Loader!) v1.50 RELEASED!

Did KXploit v1.50 include Linux support?

Make said a Linux version was included. The announcement does not specify Linux distributions, system requirements, or a tested platform list, so it establishes the mention of a Linux version but not the extent of its compatibility. Make: KXploit (Direct Loader!) v1.50 RELEASED!

Does KXploit need two memory sticks?

Not according to the v1.50 release announcement: Make said its two-folder method used one memory stick and did not require swapping. That answers the specific change the post reported; it does not establish every detail of earlier setups or guarantee compatibility with a particular PSP.

What does the release mean for PSPs today?

KXploit v1.50 is a historical release, not a general recommendation for modern PSP hardware or firmware. Current legacy support is a separate issue. ARK-4 project documentation says KXploit-named 1.50 homebrew may require additional compatibility software and describes several approaches, including eLoader, Leda, and a 1.50 Kernel Addon, with differing support and limitations. That documentation does not establish that the original 2005 KXploit executable works on any particular present-day setup. ARK-4 Wiki: Homebrew Support

A period Neoseeker forum comment mentions a version 1.50 PSP in a discussion involving Direct Loader and PSPersonalize, but it is an individual user comment rather than authoritative compatibility documentation. Neoseeker Forums: PSP Background Requests
