Kubernetes on Edge Day is a CNCF-hosted co-located event focused on using Kubernetes and cloud native technology in edge environments. The North America 2026 event is listed for November 9, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as part of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America. The event page says an All-Access In-Person pass includes entry to CNCF-hosted co-located events; it does not state a separate ticket price.

What is Kubernetes on Edge Day?

It is a focused event for people applying Kubernetes and cloud native approaches beyond conventional data centers and public clouds. The central challenge is operating workloads across many distributed sites, where environments may have limited resources and differ from one location to another.

The organizer describes Kubernetes as helping with automation, observability, declarative APIs, and loosely coupled systems. Those capabilities can help teams manage deployments spread across hundreds or thousands of locations, rather than treating each site as an isolated installation. Linux Foundation Events describes Kubernetes as “already a significant component of the edge ecosystem, driving integrations and operations.”

Who should consider attending?

CNCF identifies platform engineers, developers, operators, students, and business leaders as potential attendees. The subject is relevant if your work involves deploying or managing systems outside centralized cloud and data-center environments. Examples include retail locations, factory floors, vehicles, and satellites.

  • Practitioners: People operating production workloads at distributed sites can look for ideas about managing deployments, collecting data, and maintaining visibility across fleets.
  • People exploring edge use cases: Those assessing whether Kubernetes fits a new edge project can use the event to understand the operational concerns and cloud native approaches involved.
  • Technical and business decision-makers: The audience is not limited to hands-on cluster operators; the organizer also includes business leaders among those who may benefit.

The fit depends more on whether your work touches distributed edge environments than on a particular job title.

What topics might the event cover?

The North America 2026 listing does not provide session-level details in the available event information, so specific speakers or talks should not be assumed. CNCF’s overview of the Europe 2026 program describes themes including AI at the edge, telco deployments, data on Kubernetes, and observability at scale. The separate Europe 2027 call for proposals lists production Kubernetes at the edge, project highlights, event and data collection, machine learning, low-resource hardware, security, and AI. These offer context about the broader subject, not a confirmed North America agenda.

For named talks, speakers, and session times, consult the live North America event page and schedule.

How does it differ from the Europe editions?

Kubernetes on Edge Day has separate regional editions. The completed Europe 2026 event took place on March 23, 2026, in Amsterdam. A separate Europe 2027 listing is for March 15, 2027, in Barcelona. Their programs and dates should not be treated as the North America 2026 agenda or schedule.

The Europe 2026 archived event page attributes a forecast of nearly $350 billion in edge-solution spending through 2027 to IDC’s Worldwide Edge Spending Guide. The forecast covers combined enterprise and service-provider spending on hardware, software, professional services, and provisioned services; the event page does not state the guide’s publication year. It is a forecast attributed by the event page, not a reported actual-spending total.
