Kingdom Hearts on Nintendo Switch is a cloud-streamed experience, so it requires a stable internet connection and cannot be played offline. Square Enix ended sales of the Switch cloud editions on June 9, 2026, and has scheduled their cloud service to end on June 9, 2027 at 14:59 UTC. The publisher has also announced a way to transfer saves to corresponding Nintendo Switch 2 digital editions, but Nintendo Switch Online cloud-backup compatibility for these titles is not confirmed in the official information cited here.
Which Kingdom Hearts games are on Switch?
Square Enix released three individual cloud editions for Nintendo Switch, along with an all-in-one collection. The US Nintendo listing describes the bundle as digital and says it contains the three products below. The Switch releases launched on February 10, 2022.

Does Kingdom Hearts on Switch need Wi-Fi, and can you play offline?
Yes, you need an internet connection to play. These editions stream gameplay from remote servers rather than running as conventional offline Switch games. Nintendo says cloud versions require stable, high-speed internet; an unstable connection can cause a disconnection after a few minutes. Nintendo’s US listing warns: “THIS GAME REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY. PLEASE TRY OUT THE FREE DEMO BEFORE PURCHASE.”

That means no offline play: downloading demo data or having a save stored locally does not let the game continue when the connection or streaming service is unavailable. Wi-Fi is one way to connect, but the essential requirement is a sufficiently stable internet connection.

How can you check whether your connection will work?
Try the free cloud-version demo before buying. Nintendo provides a brief no-charge trial to test streaming on your connection, and Square Enix recommends a stable, persistent high-speed connection. A successful demo is useful evidence that the game can connect from your setup, but Nintendo cautions that it does not guarantee a consistently stable connection later.
- Find the relevant Kingdom Hearts cloud edition or bundle in the Nintendo eShop for your region.
- Start its free demo, if offered in your region, and test it on the network and in the locations where you expect to play.
- Pay attention to interruptions, lag, or disconnects. If the stream is unreliable during the trial, expect the same connection limitations in the full game.
Square Enix Japan’s support page gives more specific demo terms for Japan: up to two attempts, each lasting 10 minutes, except HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, whose attempts last up to 15 minutes. Those limits should not be assumed to apply in every region; check the local eShop terms. Will your Kingdom Hearts Switch save data transfer to Switch 2?
Square Enix announced that players will be able to transfer saves from a Switch Cloud Version to a corresponding Nintendo Switch 2 digital edition. The eligible digital versions named in its June 9, 2026 notice are:
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX for Switch or Switch 2.
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue for Switch 2.
- KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind for Switch 2.
- KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] for Switch 2.
The announcement establishes the planned transfer option, but does not provide the transfer procedure. It also does not confirm that these specific games support Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud Backup. Nintendo’s general backup information is not enough to establish title-specific compatibility, so do not assume that an NSO cloud backup will protect these saves. How long will Kingdom Hearts Cloud Version work on Switch?
Square Enix says sales of the Switch cloud editions ended at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2026. Existing owners may continue to access them until the cloud service ends at 14:59 UTC on Wednesday, June 9, 2027. As of October 4, 2026, that service-end date is still in the future.

Which option makes sense for you?
- Choose a Switch cloud edition only if you have reliable internet where you play, are comfortable with streaming, and accept the announced service deadline.
- Try the demo first if you are unsure whether your connection can sustain the stream. It is a practical test, not a promise of consistent performance.
- Compare the bundle with individual editions based on which games you want; the all-in-one Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud contains the three listed cloud products.
- Prioritize a corresponding Switch 2 digital edition if you want to use Square Enix’s announced save-transfer path and continue beyond the Switch cloud-service end date. Check the notice for the applicable edition and discount terms.
- Do not choose these editions for offline portability: none of the Switch cloud versions avoids the internet requirement.
