Is there a current official KickassTorrents mirror?
No current domain can be identified as the verified official replacement for the original service. Several websites using the KickassTorrents name publish different answers to the same question. Why a “working” proxy list is not a trustworthy list
Current proxy-list articles and mirror sites often use terms such as safe mirror, official domain, or primary site. The available evidence does not independently verify those descriptions. In particular, the published lists do not establish:
- Who owns or operates each domain
- Whether the operator is connected to the original KAT team

- Do not enter credentials. Do not reuse an email address, password, recovery code, or social-media login on a torrent-branded site.
- Do not install a browser extension or executable offered by the page. A prompt claiming that a codec, VPN, media player, CAPTCHA component, or download manager is required is a frequent malware-delivery pattern.
- Do not approve notification requests. Selecting “Allow” for browser notifications can enable persistent scam or malware advertisements even after the tab is closed.
- Inspect redirects. Unexpected jumps to betting pages, fake antivirus warnings, app-download pages, or payment forms are reasons to close the tab, not to continue.
- Do not assume HTTPS means trustworthy. HTTPS encrypts the connection to a domain; it does not prove the domain’s ownership, legitimacy, or the safety of its files.
- Scan anything you downloaded. If a file was obtained from an unverified source, scan it with your maintained security software before opening it. Avoid disabling protection to make a download run.
What the original KickassTorrents service actually did
KickassTorrents was primarily a BitTorrent index, not a conventional streaming platform. It indexed torrent files and magnet links, while transfers were handled through peer-to-peer BitTorrent software. That model means the index, the torrent metadata, and the files shared by peers were separate components.

A modern site that copies the old branding is therefore not automatically the same service. It may be a clone, an advertising site, a malicious landing page, or an unrelated index using a familiar name. A similar interface and a working search box provide no reliable proof of operator identity.
Legal and safer ways to find content
For films and television, check legitimate services available in your country using a streaming-availability search tool, a library service, or the rights holder’s own platform. For software, use the developer’s official download page, a reputable package manager, or a recognized distribution repository. For games, use the publisher’s store or an established platform such as Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox, or Nintendo eShop. For books, use the publisher, author, library, or a recognized ebook retailer.
Some creators and projects intentionally distribute material through BitTorrent or other peer-to-peer methods. In those cases, use the download link published by the creator or project itself—not a third-party site claiming to be a KAT mirror—and verify any published checksums or signatures.
