Kevan Parekh became Apple’s chief financial officer on January 1, 2025, succeeding Luca Maestri in a transition Apple announced on August 26, 2024. Parekh moved up from Apple’s finance leadership team; Maestri remained at the company to lead Corporate Services.
When did Kevan Parekh become Apple CFO?
Parekh took over as CFO on January 1, 2025. Apple announced the planned succession on August 26, 2024, saying Parekh—then vice president of Financial Planning and Analysis—would become CFO and join its executive team. Apple’s current leadership profile lists him as CFO reporting to CEO John Ternus; Apple’s 2026 proxy statement also describes the transition as completed.
Who is Kevan Parekh?
Parekh is a finance executive who built his career across several Apple business areas before becoming CFO. At the time Apple announced his appointment, he had spent 11 years at the company, according to Apple’s 2024 announcement.
His Apple finance roles
Before the promotion, Parekh led Financial Planning and Analysis, G&A and Benefits Finance, Investor Relations, and Market Research. Earlier in his Apple career, he led finance for Worldwide Sales, Retail, and Marketing, and supported Product Marketing, Internet Sales and Services, and Engineering.

His experience and education
Before joining Apple, Parekh held senior leadership roles at Thomson Reuters and General Motors, where he gained global experience. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
What happened to Luca Maestri?
Maestri left the CFO position but did not leave Apple. Effective January 1, 2025, he continued to lead Corporate Services, including information systems and technology, information security, and real estate and development, reporting to then-CEO Tim Cook.

Apple credited Maestri’s CFO tenure with more than doubling the company’s revenue and growing Services revenue more than five times. Those are figures Apple stated in its announcement; it did not specify the comparison years, baseline values, or calculation method.

Maestri said, “I’m looking forward to the next stage of my time at Apple, and I have enormous confidence in Kevan as he prepares to take the reins as CFO.” These statements reflected the company’s description of the planned handover.
