Its headline trade-off is portability: wheels and a telescopic handle help move it, but its 16.5 kg (36.38 lb) weight makes it a bulky choice to carry. JBL’s battery-life figure is conditional, and the replaceable battery is sold separately. This review assesses the published specifications and an independent review; it is not based on hands-on testing.
What the PartyBox Stage 320 offers
JBL positions the Stage 320 as a portable party speaker for music, lighting effects, and live input. The official product page lists JBL Pro Sound, an adaptive lightshow, AI Sound Boost, Auracast multi-speaker connection, and control through the JBL PartyBox App. These are listed features, not independent measurements of sound quality or performance. JBL’s official product page has the feature overview.
Its two microphone inputs and guitar input make karaoke and amplified live playing possible without relying solely on Bluetooth playback. The specifications establish the input types, but not compatibility with every microphone or instrument setup: check the connector and the connected device’s requirements before buying accessories.
JBL’s published specifications

Battery life, charging and replacement
JBL advertises up to 18 hours of music playback, with actual play time varying according to volume and audio content. Treat that as a conditional manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that the speaker will run for 18 hours at a particular volume or with every lightshow and playback setup.

- Powerful JBL Pro Sound
- Rock out with powerful JBL Pro Sound from two 6.5" woofers that deliver clean, precise, deep bass even at top volume and a pair of 25mm dome tweeters that produce crystal clear highs. Indoors or out, you can fill a space the size of a tennis court with music.
- Futuristic lightshow
- Take all that sound and add a thrilling lightshow featuring starry lights, cool light trails, and strobe light effects—all synced to your beat.
- Up to 18 hours of play time
- Charging: JBL lists a three-hour charge time with the speaker off.
- Fast charge: JBL says 10 minutes of charging can provide two hours of play time.
- Replacement battery: The specified battery is the JBL BATTERY400, a 68 Wh lithium-ion battery. JBL says the replaceable battery is sold separately.
The separate battery is worth factoring into event planning: the Stage 320 has a replaceable power option, but it is not an included spare according to JBL’s specification sheet. The published charging and runtime figures are JBL’s claims rather than results from an independent battery test.
How portable is it?
JBL equips the speaker with wide wheels and a telescopic handle, which should help when rolling it along a suitable route. But the weight remains substantial. RTINGS describes the Stage 320 as bulky and heavy even with its wheels and carrying handle, an independent review observation rather than a measurement made for this article. See RTINGS’ JBL PartyBox Stage 320 review.

- Equipped with two 6.5-inch woofers and 1-inch dome tweeters for Powerful JBL Pro Sound with deep bass and clear highs.
- Futuristic Lightshow features starry lights, cool light trails, and strobe effects, all synchronized to the beat of the music.
- Offers up to 18 hours of Extended Playtime, with a replaceable battery option for prolonged enjoyment.
- Comes with a telescopic handle and sturdy wheels for easy transportation to any party location.
That makes the route as important as the destination. Rolling it across a smooth floor or paved path is different from lifting it into a vehicle, carrying it up stairs, or moving it over rough ground. If those lifts are part of your regular use, consider the listed weight before treating the wheels as a substitute for a lighter speaker.
Lighting, connections and weather resistance
Lightshow and multi-speaker connection
JBL lists an adaptive lightshow and Auracast multi-speaker connection. The product page also identifies AI Sound Boost and the JBL PartyBox App. The available specifications establish that these features are offered, but do not provide enough detail to assess how the lightshow affects runtime or how a particular multi-speaker setup will behave.

Using it outdoors
The Stage 320 carries an IPX4 rating, which means splash resistance—not waterproofing or protection for submersion. It may suit settings where splashes are a concern, but the rating is not a reason to leave it in heavy rain or expose it to water beyond its stated protection. JBL’s marketing phrase that “a little rain won’t stop the fun” should be read in light of that limited IPX4 rating.

JBL/HARMAN’s 2024 specification sheet says the Stage 320 incorporates post-consumer recycled plastic and is packaged in FSC-certified paper printed with soy ink. These are manufacturer statements about materials and packaging; the sheet does not quantify the recycled-plastic content.

Who should consider the Stage 320?
- A good fit to investigate: buyers who want a party-focused speaker with a built-in lightshow, wired microphone and guitar inputs, and wheels for moving it over manageable routes.
- Think carefully first: anyone who needs to carry a speaker frequently, lift it up stairs, or depend on a specific all-day runtime. Its listed weight is high, and JBL’s play-time figure varies with use.
- Budget for the ownership detail: a replacement BATTERY400 is a separate purchase, according to JBL.
- Check before connecting gear: confirm the connector and requirements of any microphone or instrument setup rather than assuming every third-party device will work.
Overall, the published feature set makes the Stage 320 a versatile party-oriented option on paper, especially for karaoke or guitar use. The clearest practical drawback is its size and weight: the wheels help with rolling, but do not make it a lightweight carry. Buyers should also treat JBL’s battery-life figure as a variable claim and account for the separately sold replacement battery.
