For workouts in wet, dusty, or outdoor conditions, JBL Endurance Peak 4 has the stronger stated earbud protection and the longer claimed maximum total playback. Choose Powerbeats Pro 2 if optional built-in workout heart-rate monitoring matters more: Beats says it works with select apps and equipment. Both models use ear hooks and offer noise control plus an ambient-awareness mode, but manufacturer specifications alone cannot establish which will fit or sound better for you.

JBL Endurance Peak 4 vs. Powerbeats Pro 2 at a glance

Feature JBL Endurance Peak 4 Powerbeats Pro 2
Earbud resistance IP68, according to JBL’s specification sheet. IPX4, according to Beats support; Beats describes resistance to sweat and water splashing from any direction.
Charging-case resistance IPX2, according to JBL’s specification sheet. Beats says the case is not sweat- or water-resistant.
Maximum stated total playback Up to 48 hours; per-charge figures vary with ANC use. Up to 45 hours in Adaptive EQ mode or up to 36 hours with ANC and Transparency active.
Ear-hook design TwistLock design; JBL’s specification sheet describes a liquid-silicone hook with memory wire. Ear hooks reinforced with nickel-titanium alloy.
Workout heart-rate monitoring Not stated on the cited JBL product materials. Optional monitoring; Beats names support for select apps and equipment.
Noise and awareness modes Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Ambient Aware. ANC and Transparency mode.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not results from a standardized head-to-head workout test. Sources: JBL Endurance Peak 4 product page, JBL specification sheet, Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 product page and Beats support.

Which earbuds are better for your workout?

Pick JBL Endurance Peak 4 for greater stated protection and maximum runtime

JBL’s IP68 rating applies to the earbuds, not the charging case, which JBL rates IPX2. That makes the JBL earbuds the stronger stated choice if dust or exposure to water is a key concern. Ratings are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish how either pair will hold up in every workout or environment.

JBL also claims up to 48 hours of total playback. For people who value longer stated runtime and do not need heart-rate data from their earbuds, those are the clearest reasons to favor the Endurance Peak 4.

Pick Powerbeats Pro 2 if earbud-based heart-rate data matters

Powerbeats Pro 2’s distinguishing workout feature is optional real-time heart-rate monitoring. Beats says it works with select fitness apps and equipment, so check that your intended app or device is supported before treating the feature as part of your workout setup.

For Apple Fitness, Beats’ UK product page specifies an iPhone on iOS 26, an iPad on iPadOS 26, or an Apple TV on tvOS 26, with Apple TV also paired with an iPhone or Apple Watch. These are platform and pairing conditions stated on that regional product page; compatibility can change with software updates. Beats says heart-rate monitoring can be disabled.

How do battery claims compare with noise control on?

Listening mode JBL Endurance Peak 4 Powerbeats Pro 2
ANC off or Adaptive EQ Up to 12 hours per charge with ANC off; up to 48 hours total playback, per JBL. Up to 10 hours per earbud charge and up to 45 hours total in Adaptive EQ mode, per Beats.
Noise control active Up to 8 hours per charge with ANC on; JBL’s stated maximum total playback is up to 48 hours. Up to 8 hours per earbud charge and up to 36 hours total with ANC and Transparency active, per Beats.

JBL’s figures come from its product page and specification materials; Beats’ figures come from its support page. They are vendor claims made under the stated listening modes, not directly comparable laboratory measurements. The maximum totals should not be treated as guaranteed workout runtimes: actual playback depends on listening conditions and which features are active.

What do the water-resistance ratings mean for the case?

Compare the earbuds and cases separately. JBL lists IP68 for the Endurance Peak 4 earbuds and IPX2 for their charging case. Beats support rates Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds IPX4 and says their case is not sweat- or water-resistant.

Beats describes IPX4 as resistance to sweat and water splashing from any direction. The two manufacturers’ ratings are not interchangeable promises of protection for the whole product, and the earbud rating does not transfer to the case. Keep the case’s separate rating in mind when deciding where to store it after exercise.

Will the ear hooks fit better on one model?

Both products use ear hooks to help keep the earbuds in place, but their constructions differ. JBL calls its approach TwistLock; its specification sheet describes a liquid-silicone ear hook with memory wire. Beats describes nickel-titanium alloy-reinforced hooks.

Those design descriptions do not establish which pair will be more secure or comfortable for a particular person. Ear shape and personal fit matter, and the cited materials do not provide an independent fit test or workout-retention comparison. If fit is your deciding factor, try them on where possible and check the return terms before buying.

How do their noise and awareness features differ?

JBL lists Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Ambient Aware; Beats lists ANC and Transparency mode. Both therefore offer a way to reduce outside sound and a mode intended to let you hear more of your surroundings. The product descriptions do not establish that either system blocks noise or passes through environmental sound more effectively in real workouts.
