It depends on which Titanfall 2 VR project you mean. CircuitLord’s installer-based campaign conversion and TinyBlkDog’s Northstar plugin are separate projects with different installation methods and multiplayer guidance. Neither project has an independent security audit established here. TinyBlkDog explicitly says not to use its plugin on official servers; CircuitLord’s installer documentation describes a campaign mod but does not establish its multiplayer policy.
Which Titanfall 2 VR mod are you considering?
There are at least two distinct projects commonly called Titanfall 2 VR. Their instructions and warnings are not interchangeable.

Is the Titanfall 2 VR mod safe to install?
No independent security audit or malware analysis is established for either project. That means the available documentation cannot verify that a release binary is safe; it also does not establish that either project contains malware. Treat the installer and mod files as community software, and decide whether you trust the source before running them.
What CircuitLord says its installer does
CircuitLord says the installer finds Titanfall 2 through Steam, EA, or Xbox and installs Northstar and the VR mod into a separate TF2VR profile. The README says ordinary Titanfall 2 launches remain unmodded, while VR campaign progress and settings use a separate location under %LOCALAPPDATA%RespawnTitanfall2_VR. It also describes a SHA-256 manifest for installer downloads and records written files for updates and uninstall.

These are the project’s descriptions of its design, not an independent verification or a guarantee that every user configuration is unaffected. The installer source is MIT-licensed, but CircuitLord says the mods themselves are closed source. Its README states: “These mods and this installer are community projects, not affiliated with or endorsed by the game developers or publishers. Use at your own risk.”
What TinyBlkDog’s plugin requires
TinyBlkDog documents an OpenXR runtime and a PC-VR-capable GPU as requirements. The maintainer reports development and testing with a Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR through Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. That is a limited, maintainer-reported test set, not independent validation or evidence that every headset and runtime works. The README does not establish that other headsets are blocked; it says they are untested.

How do the installation methods differ?
CircuitLord: installer and separate profile
Use the project’s installer instructions for the chosen game store and review the files and permissions it requests before running it. Its documented separation of the TF2VR profile and VR saves is intended to keep the normal game launch and campaign data distinct, but it is not a substitute for a backup or a security review.
TinyBlkDog: copy a plugin into Northstar
The plugin README’s manual process is to install Northstar, confirm that it launches, close the game, and then copy the plugin DLL and INI from the release ZIP into Titanfall2R2Northstarplugins. Follow the project’s release-specific instructions rather than assuming that the installer-based method applies.

Northstar’s manual installation documentation says the client is PC-only and requires ownership and installation of Titanfall 2. It describes downloading Northstar from its releases and copying files into the game directory; mods may also require additional dependencies. The documentation warns that the default EA App game folder may not be writable by non-admin processes. A permissions error is not a reason to download replacement files from an unofficial source.

TinyBlkDog’s plugin: do not use it on official servers
The TinyBlkDog README says: “Do not use this on official servers.” The author explains that the plugin’s aim command is written as a correctly checksummed user command that a server cannot distinguish from a gamepad command, and says this is against the EULA. This is the mod author’s disclosure, not an independent server test or legal ruling.

For private Northstar servers, the README tells users to ask the server owner. It also says Northstar lacks anticheat and client attestation, so a server cannot detect the VR client or enforce a policy either way. The author notes a wider field of view in VR and an eye-height correction difference on dedicated servers; those are the author’s disclosures, not independent measurements.
CircuitLord’s installer: multiplayer policy is not established
CircuitLord’s documentation describes a campaign conversion, but the cited installer material does not establish multiplayer support or an official-server policy. A separate profile is an installation and save-separation measure; it does not show that the mod is approved for multiplayer or safe to use online.

Northstar’s vanilla-compatibility documentation says to launch with -vanilla and disable mods marked with an exclamation mark, while warning that not every mod is guaranteed to function in that mode. It does not make a mod multiplayer-approved. Do not assume vanilla compatibility overrides a project’s warning or supplies a multiplayer policy the project has not stated.
